Re: Nala ♣ The Lion King anonymous March 8 2009, 23:48:09 UTC
I'll be going with the first movie, since that's what I know.

A couple things to keep in mind is that Nala is an active character; she goes out and does things. When Scar takes over, she either goes out to find help or leaves because she realizes just what sort of nasty alternative there would be if she stayed. (If you want to include the Broadway Canon in your RP.) She's also pretty extroverted; when she meets up with Simba and sees that he's running away from being king, she doesn't hesitate to tell him what she thinks.

Also, keep in mind that she's a lion, and will sometimes behave like an apex predator! She makes a habit of not eating animals she personally knows, but at the same time she still goes out and hunts things. Good example being when she almost gets Pumba. After she's introduced to him, she doesn't have any desire to harm him. But before then and during the fight, she's still acting on instinct. And for the most part, she seems to be okay with that.

Also since you're playing a character from an animated movie, and a Disney one at that, you've got a big advantage since you can use power centers to help define the character. An intro to them can be found here:

But as a quick summary, power centers are something used in animation to express a character's personality through actions, based on where they're located. Really good stuff to keep in mind if you describe your character's actions in RP, and something else to observe when watching the movie(s).

Hope that helped!
