Busy as a beaver (rude chuckle!)
Just got back from San Diego and lighting my friends band MOWER, a hard-core metal type band. I have known the lead singer Dominic since I was 14 years old, back in Colorado. It was a great weekend: Thursday I went to light the band at the Key Club on Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles (got a job offer there!); Friday night was lighting the band at Canes in San Diego, and Saturday was for recuperation. On Saturday Morning we went to a great restaurant on the beach for Mimosas and Bloody Marys plus brunch. Not only was it great to see Dominic but I finally met his girlfriend/to be wife.
She and I had alot of chatting to do, seeming that I am Dom's only female friend who has lasted these 16 years... he's a childish perv but I still love him like a brother.
On Saturday I left for Hollywood to meet Xian (aka DJ Xian of Malediction Society in LA.)We did a site survey of the Ivar, where our Halloween Event will occur. I have been doing sketches of the event decor all day, as I have $1000 as a budget!
Yes, I am the production manager, but the lights and sound are all part of the club, so I need not fret over that in my budget!
Tonight I had dinner with the last girl of the "big move" who had yet to pay me for transporting her stuff. I got the $280 and gave back her set of house keys I had held onto while she drove out here. Technically they all got a deal: all 4 girls who's stuff I moved along with mine paid $750 for the job.
Not to shabby, plus I was nice and let 3 of them owe me for a while.
Anyhow, I'll post the images of the Halloween party concept sketches ASAP (when I can scan them).
PHEW! School hasn't even started and I am ALREADY busy!!!
