I have been going beyond stir crazy the last few weeks and poor Chris has been suffering for it. Every time we have had plans this winter the weather has cancelled it.
So on the first warm/non-weather weekend we have had in forever Chris took me to Myrtle Beach for the weekend. Still not overly warm - but so much nicer than it has been.
Found a great special at one of the resorts with an ocean view room and balcony. Indoor pool, lazy river, and spa.
Got there in about 3 hrs on Friday night and just relaxed in the room and marveled at the view.
Saturday morning had us up early, breakfast buffet then a little shopping. Found the PERFECT bathing suit for me and got it. I adore it and probably won't even consider looking for a new one for years.
Had lunch at a terrific seafood buffet where Chris took great delight in my endeavors to eat crab legs.
Played putt-putt at Mt. Atlanticus after lunch and had a lot of fun. I was stomping Chris until the end - and hit a few holes that just destroyed my score! Very neat place and I definitely recommend. The view from the top holes was incredible!
Spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the spa at the hotel until time for dinner and then it was off to Medieval Times. (Hurrah buy one get one free codes!) The King was a bit stoic and not very much fun - but the rest of the experience was terrific. Drinks were a bit pricey - but you get cool cups to take home. The show was great, the horses amazing, and I really enjoyed the falconry demo. We had great seats dead center of the arena and our knight was the hero of the day!
Sunday morning we went to the Ripley's Aquarium and were suitably impressed. The underwater tunnel is actually a really decent length with a slow moving sidewalk so you can just stand while it moves you through the entire thing. Chris played with the horseshoe crabs and petted the stingrays - I watched. :)
Walked around the Boardwalk for a bit (definitely going back there to go shopping!) Then off to lunch at a shushi buffet. Yum!
Sunday night was back in Charlotte at a concert - Get the Led Out. We got there and got an immediate upgrade on our seats (how cool is that??). If you are a Led Zepplin fan I cannot recommend this show enough. Phenomenal job recreating their music and every fan in there was incredibly stoked and having an amazing time. I honestly didn't realize I wasn't much of a fan until at the concert and I was only familiar with about 4 or 5 songs.. but Chris grew up listening to their albums and practically bounced the entire way home about how awesome it was! (Take ear plugs - if it wasn't for the usher having a set I wouldn't be able to hear today...)
So, very cool weekend over all - definitely going to go back again.
Tonight has us off to see Lord of the Dance uptown and then we will be relaxing until StellarCon March 6th. Probably will make an appearance at NCBB - Chris may have to work so still debating.
