Another post-surgery goal accomplished!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I was going through the ordeal of making the decision to have gastric bypass and dealing with all the doctor’s appointments, tests, evals, and such my mother was helping to keep me positive about the decision and the life change I was about to undergo. I distinctly remember her telling me about a friend of hers who had had the surgery. The lady’s life had changed greatly and she had taken up hiking in the mountains as a past-time. At 300+ lbs and hardly able to get dressed in the morning without having to take a breather that sounded like a fairy tale to me and a life that I could only dream about.
This past weekend that dream came true. Sem, Sinclair, and Dale took me with them on one of their hiking expeditions up in the South Carolina mountains. We hiked a total of 7.4 miles and I loved every moment of it!
Other than being a little stiff when I got out of bed the past two days, my body held up phenomenally. I would never have dreamed that I could have hiked that far the first time out or that I would have handled it as well as I did.
