I am soo looking forward to the con this weekend!!!! It has been a number of years since I have attended a scifi con - and I used to go every other month or so to one.
ConCarolinas seems to be coming into its own. I've looked at the website and there is going to be tons to do!! So many panels on various shows I am interested in, shows, musicians, the local paranormal group, costume contests, a droid hunt, a zombie walk, not to mention the parties! They actually have a considerable amount of things to do for the non-gamer or comic book geek. (While I enjoy D&D - I am not a 'pro' player by any means! Purely a dining room table gamer. :)
I'm really interested in checking out the local Browncoats group and there is even an SG-1 Airsoft group that is going to be there. Chris learned about them at the local Army Navy store, called me, and I have already devoured their website and am so visiting their table at the con. How cool to dress up in Stargate uniforms and run through the woods shooting at another team! Yeah - just what I need - another expensive hobby!
I have two costumes put together for the weekend - a Stargate outfit and a Kaylee from Serenity outfit! (Instead of a teddy bear patch on my coveralls though - it's Tinkerbell! :)
I admit - I am a sci-fi geek! I do miss the cons and would enjoy going to a few every year. There is going to be an SCA demo going on as well - so I'll pop in and help out with that a little bit - but I am probably be going to be having too much fun catching up with old friends, styling in my new costumes, and geeking out with other geeks about Stargate, Serenity, and Star Trek! The new Star Trek move was just tooo cool!!!!!
Oooohh there should also be groups there doing that Steampunk stuff too that I so need to learn more about!
