I only had seven years in London but other half spent all his working life on the doorstep of this one and I had many an evening wondering if he'd be late home (or not come home at all this time- but I'm an active service squaddy's daughter, so I'm used to that one).

This.. resonates. I'm not sure I could ever truly call London home, vs San Francisco, but the place has such a glorious pull nonetheless.
