Firstly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Dazed! :D
Secondly, sorry I've been letting this journal get neglected again.
Thirdly, my copy of
Digital Art Masters: Volume 2 (published at last) arrived the same day as HP 7, so the 21st of July was very much orgasmic. I'm somewhere near the end.
Fourthly, then I finished the book today after throwing it against the wall at least three times, and I feel horribly depressed.
Three Accounts of Book Abuse: HP SPOILERS AHOY!
1. The first time I threw the book against the wall was somewhere close to the begin. With all that whispering that there was a traitor in the order and Lupin acting like a complete squirrel shit to the point where he left his wife and unborn child -- Remus/Sirius fantards: LOL! TOTALLY GAY FOR SERIOUS!
AARRRGHGFLhlawjkehrfquwf k74927534lrh8917!!"^£%!£¬¬¬!!!!!!
A red herring, I'm pretty sure, since I seem to recall Lupin was suspected before, and I wondered if perhaps there really had been some real truth in it, which annoyed me, because Lupin is by far my most favourite character.
2. The second instance of book-induced rage: FRED. DIED.
3. And the final blow: Lupin and Tonks then died, and not in a good way. I worried it was coming since the first chapter and the foreshadowing about pruning branches of the family tree, and then Lupin turned into Maes Hughes "I've got baby pictures!" which is never a good sign, but their deaths seemed like an afterthought, like extra names added to the bodycount to pile the Angst upon Harry to epic proportions. From the way it was worded, I was actually hoping that maybe they really were just taking a nap next to all the dead people. ;_; Yep, I was in denial until the very last page.
Fuck you, JK, you actually made me cry.
But having said all this, I am more or less satisfied with how it ended. The ownership of the elder wand going around like some crazy pass the parcel game was clever, and Snape was vindicated just as everyone hoped. I just wish some characters could have been left to live on in peace. Some deaths were just completely unnecessary... ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE THE DEATHS OF MY FAVOURITE CHARACTERS! :<
And also...
ALBUS FUCKING SEVERUS POTTER!
I do not have enough symbols on my keyboard to convey exactly how tragic my face was when I read that.
*goes to wait for the oncoming wave of fanfics that will inevitably revive all the ded peeples*
