Crafty...but not letterbox-related. Whut?!!?!?!!?
So, Rick had a little party here at the office yesterday...a 5th birthday party for Luke the Dog. Luke is Rick's rescued greyhound...I've posted a photo or two of him in the past.
So of course, Luke needs a gift for his birthday...most of the staff bought him treats or toys - he LOVED the pig's ears Marilyn gave him! I, being short on cash but long on craft supplies, decided to do a little art project: a photo collage book.
Cut for incredibly large images...
The book itself is bound with the Japanese stab binding techique - pages are black construction paper; covers are cardboard covered with decorative paper and clear contact paper; I used embroidery thread to bind it, and small metal eyelets on the holes. I also used some key tags (conveniently "borrowed" from office supplies) to use as "dog tags" to decorate the cover.
Collages are mixed media: laser print photos on white and colored paper, decorative paper, colored pencil, plus a couple little images cut from magazines.
Rick & Luke: Rick's shirt was cut out of yellow paper; Luke's scarf was colored in with pencil; the little greyhounds in the corners were clip art; border cut from dec paper:
Carolanne & Luke: Carolanne's dress cut from purple paper; clipart greyhound cut from black construction paper; dec paper background w/flower cut from another paper:
Marilyn & Luke: Just a photo and some dec paper...this was one of the last ones; I was running outta ideas:
Katie & Luke: Cut Katie's shirt from green paper; cut out a 2nd pic of Luke's head and stuck it on a detail from dec paper to make a "frame"; stuck the whole thing on another dec paper:
Chris & Luke: my favorite one. Cut Luke from blue laser print; cut blue doggie & flowers from dec papers; colored the carpet green w/colored pencil:
Patti & Luke: Luke's from yellow paper printout; colored Patti's skirt w/pencils; dec paper background.
Kelly & Luke: Ok, Kelly was already back in NYC when I asked "do you have a pic of you and Luke together? She sent back bad photoshop of her and Luke in Times Square. :-) Colored pencil detail; dec paper background:

Me & Luke: I'm cut from orange paper; dec paper background and bones, plus the little doggie on the bottom left was a letterbox stamp I made recently, stamped on cream paper, colored w/pencil, cut out and glued on:
Whew! Almost as much work posting the pix as making the book! This took a couple intense nights of scrapping to accomplish, but I was happy with the results. I did have a few solo pix of Luke that I wanted to include, but ran out of time, so there is room in the back of the book for more projects later...
