OMG OMG OMG!
So, normally, I don't do reviews of tv eps. I just chime in on other people's, squeeing right along with them. But I HAVE to do a review of today's ep of Legend of the Seeker, Conversion. Because quite frankly, I'm still screaming over the episode (in a good way, of course *winks*)
I guess I should start at the beginning, even though I want to skip straight towards the second half of the ep ;)
Who didn't know that Chase's wife was frakked up in some way? I mean, really. She walked out of there looking stoned, lol. I didn't, however, realize that Giller was trying to mess with the whole Confessor balance/how the game is played. Giller plays a bit of a different role in the books, so I was pretty shocked by that. Plus, he had the whole 'I just need some make-up and I will be Marilyn Manson' thing going on. Very unexpected, lol.
I also knew, right away, that Kahlan was in deep trouble. I knew she was gonna be captured, and not just from the trailer. It was like she had a sign over her head that said 'I'm going to be captured....and that's bad!!!'
Now, I'm not saying any of this to be mean. I ADORE the show, and all shows have moments where you know what's going to happen; it's necessary sometimes to further the plot.
That being said, I LOVED the fight between Richard and Rahl. They were both so hardcore! It was obvious that they had both worked really hard on that sequence, and that those were real swords----that's right, none of that plasic crap for our LOTS. The way their swords were striking each other...wow. I was waiting for someone to get hurt, I really was. I also had a feeling Rahl was going to pull a fast one over on Richard----otherwise, what kind of bad guy would he be? Really? That, and well....that would be the end of the show or at least the season, lol. Just saying.
The torture Kahlan scene. Gah. Not fun to watch. I kept jumping when he was putting those instruments into her. And I felt so bad for Richard, too. Having to watch someone he loved so much getting tortured :( It was almost as painful for him as it was for her. Craig and Bridget were amazing during that sequence, they really were.
And now, to my favorite part: SHE USED THE CON DAR! SQUEEEEEEEE!
I could not stop screaming with glee when she used the Blood Rage. I knew about it from the books, and I was really hoping they would show it on the show sometime. And boy was it amazing. Kahlan never looked so badass! And Giller!! Ha ha. His death was so wimpy on his part, I laughed at him. Really, I did. He deserved it.
And as a final note, how sad was the end? Richard and Kahlan had these fake plastic smiles on their faces as they handed the potion over to Chase. Okay, so we knew it wasn't going to be that simple. But it still hurt to have them watch their chance of being together slip away.
All right, that's it for me. I've said my (fairly long and rambling) piece. If next week's ep is as good as this week's, maybe I'll even post a review again soon ;) Who knows. I mean, the first ep with Denna was amazing, right? So, we'll see.
