So I started my new job last week. I'm working in a group foster home for those who don't know. It was orientation so it didn't really count. Long days and cold rooms = me wanting to shoot myself...but it was good training.
Anyway, yesterday was the first day with the kids (I have 12 of them and am in shelter). I was at work from 12-10:30 pm...yes, ooh and ahh over my long day. But it wasn't to bad. Mostly just chillin with the kids. Most of them were gone yesterday at Cunningham Falls...next wednesday is Hershey Park (which I'm trying to go to as well) But the kids who stayed back were calm. Played cards for most of that time. Then the rest of the bunch came back and there was lots of comotion. There are a few young ones who get on the nerves of the older ones which I can understand, so there was a lot of "ok guys, just chill, she's young...ect." Nothin big tho. A few of them wanted to go to the pool so I went with them for that (didn't get in but that day will be coming soon...so very inviting) Got back after that...mostly they relaxed. I got into a long conversation with one of my kids, A (just using initials b/c of privacy), and learned a bit about her as we watched the rain. Then it was off to bed with them and paperwork for me. Overall a good time.
I'm the advocate for two kids, Q and A. I am to try and get closer to them and make them feel like I'm ther for them. Which of course I am for all of the kids. But I guess it's good to know you have one person who is there for you. A opened up as much as she could to me which was very rewarding. I feel for her. I think the big struggle for me is going to be to not to get too attatched to the kids.
Anyway, I have work again today from 2-10 so I'm gonna relax before. More updates will come as the kids do interesting things (hopefully good and not bad interesting)
Oh, on a sidenote- still pining for New Orleans and a relationship with Bethany. Friendship relationship all those who are rolling their eyes right now >P And my beloved city...dark sensuous New Orleans, stay safe over this hurricane season <3
