Ya know, sometimes ya just make life a lot harder than you have to.

So, our local SME chapter 220 had been participating in a fund raising golf outing for a long long time. We have used the money for modest scholarships $500-1000, which generally applies to books.

Things happened and that particular avenue got closed off. So we have been casting about for another fund raising idea. Maybe a raffle of a notebook computer and some software? Maybe the golf outing in a different structure? Maybe something else?

Well, one of our members gave us $100 towards the scholarship for 2012. So I sent a feeling email to 2 other members and one of those got back to me offering $200. And this is just from two feelers! So, I am going to bring this up as an option at the next board meeting as a general request. It's quite possible a lot of companies would be behind a targeted request if all the funds were dedicated to a specific end, rather than losing part of the proceeds to the expense of fund raising.

And this would be a whole lot simpler!
