This summer would be unforgettable.
There was so much to look forward to and she wanted to share every moment with Margot. They didn't meet under ideal circumstances. In fact Margot couldn't stand Amy when they first met. She didn't know her very well. She didn't want to know her. All she knew was that she was the new girl and her assigned lab partner. That's all she needed to know because senior year was almost over and now wasn't the time to make new friends. Now was the time to focus on school because she had to keep the scholarships and admission offer Madison provided her.
Amy still blamed herself for Margot's death. If she hadn't convinced her to go to that party, she would still be alive. If she didn't indulge in some drinking, Margot wouldn't have felt the need to run away from the police. There were so many questions left unanswered, but somehow Amy blamed herself regardless.
The police told her it was an accident after examining all the evidence. Amy did everything she could to save Margot, to hold onto her hand, but she slipped and fell out the window. It would've happened to anyone else under similar circumstances. This assurance didn't make Amy feel better. She felt worst, but since she promised Margot she'd go to Camp Stillwater she decided to follow through with that promise.
Amy hoped that this summer would offer her a new outlook on life. It hadn't even started and all she had was a grim view of reality. She didn't know how many more chances she could take.
