He was sometimes shocked at the changes in his wife - the little lines, the silvery hairs amidst her flaxen tresses.
He tended to see her as she was, twenty years ago, on a cold November night.
He had gone to the Nott’s ball at his mother’s insistence.
Looking around the ballroom, he saw the same boring ladies - this one too tubby, that one too giggly, and all unendurable for than an hour, let alone a lifetime.
Atop the grand staircase appeared a vision in deep sapphire robes - and he had known this one was different.
And oh, how she was.
