Tonight, I organized my stash. P wanted me to knit her something and wanted to take a look at my stash to see what yarn she liked. In order for her to do that, I needed to organize things so she could see what yarns could go together.
I took all the yarn about of my stash box and separated them into rough piles according to weight. All my patterns went into one pile, the needles into another. It was like a treasure hunt. I found yarn I had forgotten I had and needles I thought were lost. I found a really nifty stitch holder shaped like a ginormous safety pin and my long-lost, often-missed yarn cutting pendant.
Thanks to the stash expedition, I am starting to get a good start on Christmas presents. My grandmother's lace scarf is half finished and I am about to start on
schmagagie's present. P doesn't get a newly knitted giftie for now, but she didn't much like the yarn I had in the stash. She still wins, though, as the stash is more organized and she doesn't have to hear me whine about it any more.
