First - update on the calling of the police. The very nice (and ginormous) policeman showed up at my house and talked with P & I for a while. I gave him a brief rundown of the history and what happened tonight. He then went and talked with CC... for close to 20 minutes. When he came back, it was obvious to me that he was choosing his words carefully. It came down to this - CC is utterly convinced that P lives here. He was asking the officer to make a report and get P's name and information, which the lovely officer promptly refused to do. CC also complained about a Polish language newspaper of his going missing. Not sure if I am supposed to be the culprit. Lovely officerman told CC to not contact me over the next few days unless it is for official business, such as the exchanging of keys. He told me to do the same. He also said it would be a good idea if P didn't stay over anymore... that she could come over and help with the packing, but then leave around 9 or so.
That is exactly what we did tonight. P came over, helped me pack for a few hours, and has just left to go home. I'm sitting here alone in my house, for the last time. It's odd... I can't do what I would normally do in this situation as I don't really feel fully safe in my house anymore. I'm just biding time until Moving Day on Saturday. For the rest of the night, I plan to have a beer, do some organizing and tidying, and then go to bed. I have to get some sleep. I've got a job interview tomorrow.
Yes, you read that right. A job interview. That phone interview I had for the position in Payroll? The recruiter was quite impressed with me and forwarded my information onto the hiring manager. Tomorrow, I have an interview with the hiring managers for the position. They are hiring for 20 or so positions, so I've got a great chance of getting this job.
Even better, the potential of getting a library job is looking good. The training for the digital reference volunteer gig I'm doing was at the same library as a part-time para-professional cataloging job I have applied for. I got to schmooze and meet the director of the library (or maybe he was the branch manager?) and the head of tech services. Worked my name in and how crazy passionate in-love I am with cataloging. The library director/branch manager was very excited to meet me. Apparently he got his start in cataloging and believes the profession needs more people who are really excited about tech services. I'm actually getting this a lot the more I get out into the community of professionals. When I start talking about my interests in cataloging and metadata tagging and various geeky things, many people get genuinely excited to see a young almost-librarian with such passion in this area. It makes me feel hopeful about my long-term prospects... Maybe I will eventually be published and be a known entity in this field. Wouldn't that be cool?
