Counting my blessings
It's been a good day, a day full of blessings from the Universe.
Blessing #1 - P & I found a place. It's a 3 bedroom at NE 11th and Failing. It's got a good amount of yard space and a garage big enough for storage and for P to have a workspace. There's a fireplace and a dishwasher. The people that were living there now did a number on the place - yard choked with weeds, disgustingly dirty inside, torn up carpet, etc. In spite of all that, it's got a lot of potential to be a wonderful home for us. The current tenants move out on the 4th and we will be doing a walkthrough with the landlord to get on the same page about the work that needs to be done before we will sign a lease. We will be moving in the weekend of the 19th.
Blessing #2 - Not 15 minutes after we found out about the house, P found out she won an amazing scholarship from the PCC Foundation. This eases a lot of worries for her.
Blessing #3 - I have a job interview on Monday. A few weeks ago, I applied for a position at my current company. It's in Payroll and has some similar job functionalities to the HR stuff I'm doing now. Both my current supervisor and the recruiter have said it's a natural fit for me. It's a permanent position, with benefits and is a move up from where I'm at. I have a very good feeling about this. There are quite a few positions open in the department and I've got a very good chance of getting the job.
Blessing #4 - I was officially told by my current supervisor that I have a job in HR until the end of December or I find a stable position, whichever comes first. This takes a LOT of pressure off me.
Blessing #5 - After I got home from school tonight, I decided on the spur of the moment to go see a movie. I walked down to the Laurelhurst to see Friends With Money. While waiting in the insanely long line, I got into conversation with the woman next to me. We ended up splitting a pitcher of beer and watching the movie together.
I walked home in the dark with a smile on my face. I feel truly blessed today. It feels as though the Universe is gifting me; rewarding me for all the stress I have been going through lately. I'm finishing up the summer semester this weekend and after I turn in one more paper on Monday, will have a break from school until mid-September.
