free hug day

Today was Free Hug Day, a national event inspired by the Free Hug Campaign (http://www.freehugscampaign.org/), so I made a sign that said "free hugs" and carried it around with me to my classes. I also carried it around in the mall area for a little while after lunch as well. I got a lot of hugs, and it was SO much fun. A few people made comments like "thanks, I really needed that" or "you just made my day" which really made MY day. Isn't it neat how making other people happy lifts your spirits as well? I should do this again if I'm ever having a bad day.

Also, while I was in the mall area talking with some people this guy came by carrying a duckling. He had found by itself near Belvin (the cafeteria) and had assumed it was lost or abandoned. I think he had a class to get to or something, because he was trying to get someone to take it from him. No one would take it from him, so he just set it down on one of the planters and walked off. Well it almost waddled right off of the planter, and I was afraid it was going to get hurt so I picked it up. After that I was kind of stuck with it. The only thing I could think to do was to take it to one of the biology professors, I figured they would know what to do with it. So I took it to Lee Drain and went down to the first floor where all of their offices are, then basically just went to the first office door I saw that was open. I think I said something along the lines of "Um, I was hoping you could help me with this..." and motioned to the duckling I was holding in my palm. The lady was very nice, and eventually we were able to find someone that could take care of it. I'm glad it worked out, I'm such a sucker for ducks.
