oh, and i did survive the sports awards. thankfully both my sports were near the beginning so i could leave for my "prior commitment" early. :-) i ended up getting christian leadership in bball and perseverence in soccer. to be honest, if there was anything in soccer i could've gotten, i'm really glad it was that. that shows that someone recognized how hard it was for me and how i stuck it out... even tho i didn't want to. (it's really hard sticking it out for a team that doesn't care if you stick it out or not)

but yeah. so here's the FL update, finally... being cheap and copying an update i gave to a friend, haha.

The whole week was alright. I didn’t get sick of ppl till Thursday. Which was miraculous, cuz I thought I’d be sick of ppl by Monday.

The flight down was nice and uneventful. I traded with a stranger for the window seat so I was very happy (I heart window seats). Saturday’s weather was nice… in the afternoon we stopped at a Wendy’s, and after we ate a bunch of us waited outside. A gecko came out, and all the boys were like, “GECKO!!!” It darted under a trash can, and four boys surrounded it. Two lifted up the trash can, and the others- well, when you try to catch a gecko, you need to cup your hand. One of the boys kind of forgot and smacked it with his palm flat. Needless to say, it killed the gecko. We named him Achmed.

We got to the houses, got settled in, and went out to dinner at Cici’s. Which is the first time I ever ate there and it was delicious.

The next day, Sunday, we went to church at this Dutch-reformed style church. It was interesting. The pastor was R. C. Sproul. Have you heard of him? Apparently he’s the author of a book, or his son is. I’m not quite sure which. Anyway, after that we hit Daytona Beach. It was nice and then clouded up. Sawyer dug a hole and buried himself in the sand. The others buried Brendon, the tallest in our class, completely except for his head and then covered him with a towel. Josh went over to a stranger and was like, “Hey, I lost my wallet, can you help me find it? I think I left it over there.” He tried to get the stranger to lift up the towel and have Brendon scare him. He wasn’t scared at all. But he walked away and brought back his wife and daughter! The daughter was terrified of what might be under the towel. She finally yanked it away, found out it was Brendon, felt stupid, and then was like, “I think I’ll put the towel back on.” And she did. Lol I got a video of it but I have to figure out how to upload it on facebook.

Sunday night we went to TGI Fridays. Our waiter was really funny! Like, when he was handing out the checks he gave one to Emily and was like, “Sorry if you were charged for three refills on there, but it just looked so good that I helped myself to one.” Ten minutes later Emily said, “Wait, did he really get himself a refill?!” Priceless.

Monday was Hollywood Studios. Saw the Indie show and stuff like that. Brendon was chosen to be a volunteer/actor in the show! It was really funny. No other outstanding stories there except the pouring rain that we were caught in while waiting in line for the Rock ‘n Roller Coaster. It was pouring… and then poured harder. I didn’t know that was possible.

Tuesday was yucky and rainy the entire day so we made it our stay-at-home-and-go-shopping day. We went to this big outlet mall and I found a pair of jeans for $15- which isn’t bad cuz I’m a major cheapo “hey I’m poor let’s go to the thrift store” person.

Wednesday was the waterpark and Medieval Times. Blizzard Beach was cloudy and then sunny for maybe an hour and a half. Yay! I had fun on the rides and stuff but I was feeling yucky. Prolly cuz all the up-and-down weather and being out in the rain. So while everyone else was enjoying the wave pool I just chilled, laid down, and worked on my tan. But yeah, it was still fun.

Medieval Times was fantastic. It was dinner and a show. And dinner was no silverware allowed. So you’re sitting there watching the show and they pour some tomato soup into your bowl. You have to drink it. It’s delicious! As you’re working on the soup, they plop a hunk of garlic bread on your plate. Delish. As you wait, you watch the show and enjoy the tournament unravel. Later, half a chicken is plopped on your plate! No exaggeration. I’ve never seen such a huge chunk of chicken on one plate in my life. It nearly covered the whole plate. I had two drumsticks, a thigh and a breast all in one huge connected chunk. While I was working on this huge beastly thing of chicken, they came around and plopped a chunk of potato on my plate! And then a pork rib! And it is the most food I’ve ever see on my plate in my life! It was soooo good. I ate all of it except for a little bit of the chicken. Not bad for a girl haha. Later they came around with dessert- an apple turnover. Delicious. Mmm….. and the show was great. Swordfighting with sparks, jousting, other kinds of old tournament games- it was lots of fun. Too bad our knight was the first one to lose. He was the most handsome tho so it’s ok :-)

And of course, after the show we got into the main lobby area, ppl opened the doors, and it was pouring outside.

Thursday was Islands of Adventure. Finally! What I’d been looking forward to all week. I was still feeling kind of sick but I lived with it. Due to the stupidness of my bag I had to miss out on the Hulk ride and Dueling Dragons, but I got to go on the Spiderman ride, so the whole day was good. That ride was sweet! We also did the Jerassic Park ride, which I enjoyed.

That night we went to downtown Disney to shop and eat dinner. I bought a necklace with a fancy N and little Micky head with a gem on it. It’s nice. We went to McD’s, hoping it’d be the least expensive alternative. I spent a whopping three bucks and some change for a burger and snacker. I rocked! Lol. We also checked out the Lego store, and Josh got a pic with a woman… well, ok, this was really weird. So we’re walking by a Harley Davidson store with a window display with a Harley on either side of the entrance. In one of them, a woman was posing in a bikini on the bike. Josh is like, “I want to get a picture with her!” So we go into the store. Josh asks the guy with the woman if he can get a pic with her. (I am busy pretending I don’t know him) The guy gives Josh permission. The quirk: the woman was his wife, and she had three knee-high kids standing there with him as her husband took a picture of her. And it was her husband who gave Josh permission. ?! People saw Josh getting a picture, came into the store and asked us, “Are you in line?” and my friends and I said no. So yeah, a crowd formed because of Josh, all trying to get their picture. Josh, Josh, Josh…

Friday was Cocoa Beach. I already told you about that. That night was packing and eating up the remants of the food. We also watched the Red Wings game (game 3 that they lost in OT - argh! Why couldn’t it have been game 4 that they won 6-1???). Friday night was also the night the principal’s husband, Mr. Edwards, took everyone out to Dairy Queen, his treat. My strawberry milkshake was delicious.

Saturday we were out dark and early for the airport. And of course, as we were taxiing around before we took off, it started pouring.

So yeah. All in all the week was not bad. The weather was crummy but we still had fun. Lots of memories. Not as terrible as I feared it was going to be. The flat screen tv in my room was a perk. It was a slight drag that our house was 21 houses away from the closest house- the four we rented were in a subdivision, but the other houses were only a few apart- even tho we had the biggest pool and TV. It was tough to get everyone to hang out there cuz it was so far away. But it all worked out anyway.

That’s basically it. Here’s another long post for you. That’s the whole week in a large nutshell. Thanks for your prayers too- they really helped, especially with me dealing with my class, and especially with our world-famous complaining threatened to be flamed by the weather. Not to mention potential drama. But the drama and complaining was not near as bad as we could’ve made it. So all in all, it didn’t turn out too bad.
