[series]: Code Geass
[character]: Euphemia Li Britannia
[character history / background]:
Euphemia Li Britannia was born a Third Princess in the Royal Britannian Family. She lived a peaceful life and grew close to her sisters, Nunally and Cornelia, and her brothers, Lelouch and Clovis.
Her ideal life was shattered when Lelouch's and Nunally's mother was murdered, leaving her young half-sister crippled and blind. Shortly afterward, Lelouch confronted his father, the Emperor of Britannia, on why his mother was not protected. The boy was coldly disinherited by the Emperor and sent away to Japan to be used as political tools over the Sakuradite trade. A war erupted in Japan, between Britannia and the Japanese, and Japan was crushed. It became renamed Area Eleven and all those of Japanese descent were stripped of their national heritage. Lelouch and Nunally were, reportedly, killed in the crossfire.
Euphie never got over her siblings supposed death. She had even asked her brother, Clovis, if he would take her Area Eleven. She was denied, because he believed it would be too dangerous for her. She watched her brother leave to become Governor of Area Eleven and her sister, Cornelia, leave to conquer more land for Britannia.
Years later, she had gotten word that her half-brother, Clovis, was assassinated by a man known as Zero. Distraught, she accompanied Cornelia to Area Eleven and became Sub-Viceroy under her sister's new governing.
One day, left on her own, she escaped her guards by leaping out a window and right into Suzaku Kururigi's arms. She claimed to him that she was being chased by bad men and that they get as far from the building as possible. She and Suzaku become fast friends in the time they spend together. She also notices what a good Knightmare pilot he is after he protects her from a sudden battle. She decides to make him her Knight despite her sister's protests.
During an attack on an island off Japan, Euphie realizes that her presumed to be dead half-brother, Lelouch, is alive and the man known as Zero. She already knew that Zero was Lelouch after talking to him during a hostage by desperate terrorists, but this meeting confirmed her suspicions.
She allied with Zero, when she believed that Lelouch was doing the rebellion out of good intentions. The two plan together the Special Administrative Zone of Japan to liberate the oppressed Japanese.
Euphie decided to walk on her own to the live broadcast and, unwittingly, she stumbles upon the City.
[character personality]:
Euphie is a rarity in her family: a sweet girl with no lust for power or control. She is kind to everyone, even to second-class citizens whom her siblings often dismiss and abuse. She wishes for nothing more than a peaceful world and to be together with her close family. Euphie is always eager to help, and does so with an energetic and almost childish innocence.
Euphie does try to mask her sadness through her bubbly smiles and she doesn't like to worry people with her own problems. She'd rather like to listen to someone else and have them see the good in their situations.
She abhors violence. She'll often risk her own well-being to stop any fighting she sees. She fervently believes in pacifist ideals, to the point where she can ignore the true reality of the world around her.
Though it may not be evident by her personality, Euphie had lived an extremely sheltered life. She doesn't quite know how the world around her works, and she isn't very brilliant at strategy or politics in general, unlike her other siblings.
Unfortunately, it is Euphie's naive nature that hurts her the most. She can be easily manipulated by someone who knows the right words to say, and she can blindly trust anyone because she only tries to see the good in people. She doesn't like to notice bad faults in people, especially in her family and friends.
