Random ramblings.

Over the past few days I have had two topics jiggling around in the old skull, for lack of a better place to put them I will stick them here.

A rare post about politics )

Hi there. I saw this via Mr. Jamesofengland's friend's page while I was avoiding a paper I'm writing.

Just wanted to say that though I'm not on board with section one, I am with section two.

Not only am I with you when it comes to the US educational system and the lack of vocational work, it seems that the NYT is as well. I've tried to find the article for you, but my google-fu fails me. Suffice to say, I am currently in vocational training (a switch from a BA in Psych). We have to keep in mind that while there is a need for vocational jobs, there's also a need for experienced vocational work. I'm exiting a nursing program in an area that is flooded with new grads. No one is hiring. There are 2 jobs and 1000 applicants.

Not everyone is cut out for a BA or a BS, true enough, but there also need to be vocational jobs available and a real shift in culture for those jobs to be considered acceptable.

Just wanted to chime in a little and let you know that you're absolutely right about college. Some people are not college people. And that's okay. Or at least, it should be.

It's good to know there are other people of the same mind out there. Have a good day!

Heya, I know I have seen you around in some form or another on el jay, we possibly have met before too.

It is good to hear that I am not the only one with this sentiment.

You totally have met, although it's harder to establish how without using real names. ;-) You've both been SoCal cammies, close to Anathema.

Fwiw, I'm also with you on most of the post. The broken promise that's shocked me most for its pointlessness, though, was the promise to have bills online and available for comment before he'd sign 'em. With DADT, there's at least a faction of people to cave in to.
