Time turns - good people are affected
I decided to break my silence for a little while to bring ya updater's on stuff. Most know about my Ellen's mom breaking both femurs and is recuperating in the rehab of the hospital which she worked and had the injury.
almost a week and a couple of days after that - I was notified that my position with Comcast was being eliminated as of April 1 (no joke). after 6 years the downsizing bug has hit a company which thought was pretty safe. So the moral of the story - nothing is a sure thing. Not the elections, not anything.
I talked with friends last weekend and from what we can tell (I being the only one who remembers the early eighties - we are in one of those times again. Jobs start being eliminated in the sectors left since heavy manufacturing jobs went overseas.. you know those jobs which in school were 'up and coming' Information technology, service jobs, hospital/medical jobs... 'DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT' So where are the new jobs being created? Anyway know?
I do get a severance package and can apply (not guaranteed a position) for open positions in the company.
I was without a 'good job' for 2 years - been working for 6 years and now facing some tough decisions. Ellen thank goodness landed an awesome job and so we are not hurting with my steady paycheck going away in about 120 days or less.
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers and other such devices and with luck will land some place decent.
