Local Quirks

Just how bad is the economy in the Southern states of the USA? This sign caught my attention in a local neighborhood on the way to college a few weeks ago. I had to take a picture of it even if it meant possibly trespassing during the early morning hours. And no, I didn't pay for the air I took either. Shame on me.

Just the sign you want to see when driving on a four-lane highway by a city high school and major hospital intersection, no? (This picture was taken from inside our car window so you'll have to excuse the glare and window bar.)

I searched all of the three stores in the area that carry CDs for the Garden State soundtrack and still could not find it, (I am very disappointed. I wanted it before my trip on Thursday.) but I did buy a copy of Hitchcock's Vertigo at Blockbuster. The cashier at Blockbuster was a large and burly man with a threatening stature who told me to "Have a nice day, Sweetie" as I was leaving. It really struck me as odd.

Grades for summer classes are in and I received a B in Biology and (best of all) an A in English. That's what I was aiming for since English was the more important class to me, but also the one with the toughest grading scale. I'm surprised at the Biology grade, though. I was nearly certain that I had put that class on hold for so long that I had lowered my grade. Here's hoping for the best in fall now.

It's Jean Harlow day tomorrow on TCM. I shall not be bothered with sunlight for roughly 24 hours.
