He slept unusually well, and exhaustion is only part of the explanation for it.

When he wakes, he finds that he and Dairine are no longer on opposite sides of the bed, as when they went to sleep. Her head is on his chest, at a slightly awkward angle, and he's curled protectively around her.

He blinks but doesn't move, unwilling to wake her.

She murmurs faintly as her arm slides up around his waist. She gives a slight squeeze, as if he was no more bizarre to have in her bed than a teddy bear, and shifts a little till the angle is less awkward. The emerald necklace shows plainly now, having slipped from her shirt in sleep and the words of the Speech flow just behind her hair.

Roshaun smiles faintly, reading over the sentence in the Speech again. He still isn't moving, since he's not sure how deeply asleep she is.

She shifts again and yawns, slightly awake, before another squeeze and she settles.

...well, this is awkward. And he's well and truly awake, now. All he can do is watch her and wait until she wakes up.
