1-0!!!!!!!!!!!! ok so im still on cloud nine after last nights result!!! as you know it was a crunch game, 2nd v 1st at the Mad Stad and well what a night. before i get too carried away believe me it wasnt one of the best matches ive seen this season, but to be honest as long as we won, i really wasnt bothered!!!!
left at 6pm as 23,000 people were expected at the mad stad and boy was i right to leave then. got down near the ground and didnt move for 20 mins - just sat there!!! not what i liked doing and although i wasnt far, well i panic! :) so instead of going to our usual car park, we popped into another one (its one of the very few that they set up around the ground). by the time we had parked and walked across, the police car that had been 2 spots in front of us hadnt even moved!!!! and it ws nearly 7pm then as it was, so def made the right choice!!! usual pre-game drink in hotel and and then off into the ground.
traffic must have still been bad as the ground was empty when we got in there just aftre half 7! but just as they kicked off it seemed to get packed! iv havent heard the mad stad that loud in ages! :) finally everyone was geting into the spirit of the game! had jsut sat down and another song had started being sung, when Doyle's pass went back to Chris Armstrong, who crossed the ball into the box, which led to Wolves' defender Collins headering the ball passed his own keeper (great pressure from Noel Hunt, which led to him doing this)!.......que madness round the mad stad!!! 1-0 up within 61 seconds!!!!!!!!! from that moment i was on the edge of my seat. both teams had chances and thank god wolves didnt have their shooting boots on, everything was either saves, cleared or went wide! even after doobs went off with a head injury andwolves put the pressure on, with having 3 corners in quick succession, we managed to keep it together and make it 1-0 still at half time!
the second half started with wolves coming at us, but we managed to press forward as well as defending. credit to everyone of the boys last night (even kebe who im not a big fan of) - they all covered each other last night. when going forward they were there for strikers and when defending they all defended together (doyle an noel included). the last 10 mins had me jumping out of my seat continously and ive never been so relieved to hear that final whistle go!!! wovles' night got worse when Collins (scorer of own goal) was sent off for foul language towards the linesman!!! :) :) :)
before i go any further (deep breath) - thought the officals actually did a good job last night! linesman to our right was on the ball throughout the game, the one on the left - took his time sometimes but always got there in the end and the ref, although he missed a few bits (chose the wrong opition) he somehow managed to level up!!!
like i said credit to the whole team, but big mentions to Alex Pearce, Julian Kelly, Feds, Armstrong, Cisse (doobs before he went off) and Lita! Our back four were fantastic and considering the fact that by the end of the first half an hour, only one of our regular back 4 was actually on the pitch, they played out of their skins!! Pearce came in for Ivar, as hes picked up a knock on the knee in training, Kelly made his league debut as Rosenior suspended and Murty on-loan at Charlton hes back next saturday!!!) and Doobs went off with a nasty cut on the half an hour mark, which saw Cisse fall back into defnce and Gunnarrson come on in midfield! Feds coped extremley well when wolves threatend and i cant actually remember him having to make too many saves!!! but great when called upton (marcus is going to have a fight on his hand for the number one shirt when he comes back from injury). And one player who i dont mention much - LITA!! dislocated his shoulder late in the game, but as we had used all 3 subs, had it popped back in by Jon Fern (physio) and then carried on to play!!!! anyone who does that in my book deserves a mention as its bloody painful!! carried on running round the pitch like a mad man!!!
the win means we have now closed the gap to 2 points between us and wolves with Brum also staying 2 points behind us (they won too! :() its going to be close this season i think!! just hope that we can carry on the good work this weekend at QPR, to keep us in the chase! wont be easy, but fingers crossed!!!
COME ON URZ!!!!!!!
