WHAT A MATCH!!!!! this is the first time this season that i have come home from the footy with now voice!!!! and it was so worth it!! I dont know were the begin to be honest..... we got Stoke away in teh carling cup 3rd round, well it had to be them or villa didnt it, but would have liked a home match esp as its midweek and im at work!!! :(
but then went to the match! was already hyper about this one as it was the return of John Oster! bless him, he got a mixed reception from the Reading fans! the east corner booed him when he went to take a corner up there, but every time he took a corner at our end he got a huge round of aplause!!! he even clapped back us as a thank you!!!! so good to see him back at the mad stad and his battle with Stephen Hunt in the first half was fantastic!! they were constantly at each other and just what i wanted to see :)
had a great start to the game as went to the players enterence and got my decade of dreams book from yesterdays signing, signed by a few players (marcus, ivarn convey, kebe, bikey and kelly)!! i love it when loads turn up!!! the weather was great for watching footy nice and sunny!! the first shock was that Lita wasnt even on the bench but from what ive heard he could be off to either Portsmouth or Newcastle (not sure about the newcaslte rumor to be honest), so that meant that coppell was starting with Doyle and Long upfront and Noel Hunt on the bench! also in was Karacan and Pearce in for Cisse and the departed Sonko respectivly. Full team : Marcus, Armstrong (debut), Ivar, Pearce, Rosenior, Kebe, Harper, Karacan, S.Hunt, Doyle and Long. Bench: Fed, Bikey, Convey, N.Hunt, Kelly.
We started off well and there was pently of action thats to say, it was end to end stuff but we were creating chances too. but the real break through was on 18th min, as Harper got on the end of a Rosenior corner which had been missed by Doyle and S.Hunt!! que mad stad going mad!!! 1-0 royals!!! but 20 mins later, Palace were give a penalty after the ball hit harper on the arm (it wasnt a pen harper could do nothing about it, very like gerrards one the other year!) which they converted! 1-0 at HT.
Second half and to be honest palace's keeper kept them in the game producing so cracking saves from Doyle, but on the 64th min Palace out themselves ahead much to the annoyance of the reading fans....but that wasnt going to last!!!
Because on the 65th minute, KEVIN DOYLE met the end of S.Hunt's corner and scored his 1st goal of the season! and only his second goal in 25 games!!! well the mad stad was rocking at 1-0, but it was going mad now!!!! i was going crazy and rounds of 'super kev' rang out!! he did the same celebration for that goal as the one when he scored that penalty against man u in our first year in the prem (pointed to the sky as a thanks to his brother!!). you could jsuts tell that the goal meant so much to him!!! and in ture Doyle fashion and what ive been saying for weeks, 'once he gets one, he'll get loads' adn that was he did, as 3 mins later he scored his second of the game!!! this time it was the trademark knee slide that he was banned from doing!! but he didnt care and neither did we!!!! and there was still more to come.... i jokingly turned to my dad and said Doyle hatrick please.....and he didnt disppoint....89th min and he connected onto Pearce's header and number 3 it was.....'Warnock, Warnock whats the score?' was the response!! as well as 'super kev'!! believe me all those that wanted Doyle dropped were soon eatting their words by the end of the day and well my voice was shot!! but so worth it!!! he got that hartick ball too!!! the team was on a high and that was great to see, they all played well even Kebe and Rosenior!
My MOTM - well do u really need to ask...got to be Doyle! never gave up even when he wasnt scoring, detirmined to prove everyone wrong and he did in style!!! but couldnt be prouder of the boys today! Coppell made the changes that people wanted and they worked! lets hope he has the guts to keep with them!! it was nice after the defeat last week to see them respond that way, esp as there is another international break now!!! the only thing that worries me is there is 48 hours of uncertainty due to the transfer window having been extented! 24 hours i could just about cope with (im at home tomorro too, but monday im at work, so its going to be terrible). figners crossed we can keep our boys!!! esp Harper, Doyle and Stephen Hunt!!!
anyway was going to post some pics ive waffled way too long and MOTD is on, so will leave that till tomorrow.....but will leave it with parting words from Warnock that made me laugh (typical warnock!!):
"Kevin Doyle will never get an easier hat-trick than that.
"The marking was a disgrace from three corners and it's a good job that they sold Ibrahima Sonko to Stoke otherwise they could have had 10.
"But if you defend like that you'll get beaten by Bodmin and Saltash - never mind a team like Reading."
