A whole new game....well sort of

On Tuesday night, some of the Reading fc players put away their football boots for the night and had a game of darts, but it wasnt any old game of darts. It was one of the many events that have been organised by their wives and girlfriends (sorry but WAG does not go with the reading payers other halves) in aid of the Royal Families charity. It was started up last year by Karen Murty and Amanda Hannaman (wives of Captain Graeme Murty and Goalkeeper Marcus Hannaman) and this year has been taken over by Emily Shorey (wife of Nicky Shorey) and Olga Gunnarsson (wife of Brynjar Gunnarsson). and i have it on good authority that it was a great night (one of the people i work with ended up going at the last minute - so jealous).

The following players/coaches took part:

John "The Hammer" Oster, Stephen "The Contender" Hunt, Brynjar "The Assassin" Gunnarsson, Nicky "The Dreamer" Shorey, Kevin "The Irish Rock" Doyle, Kevin "The Weapon" Dillon, Dave "The Great Guy" Kitson and Ivar "Eagle Eye" Ingimarsson (got to love all the names). And special guests Bobby George and Phil Taylor!!! talk about entertainment.

Every player, played against each other with the help of either Goerge or Taylor, followed by John 'the hammer' Oster playing Phil 'the power' Taylor he is said to be the best darts player at the club, so the other players put his name forward) and then the last round was between George and Taylor themselves. BUT the best bit of news......Oster beat Taylor!!!!!! well done Johnny!! u did us proud! :)

there was also an auction with someone playing £1200 for the chance to be part of the Reading team during one of the pre-season games this summer. they will travel with the team on teh team coach, have their own kit, take part on the warm up, sit with the team on the bench and also play for the last 10 mins of the game - FANTASTIC!!!! that sounds like heaven. Also going for £500 was a signed Shane Long shirt from last season's pre-season tour of korea! yumm.

sounded like a fantastic time indeed, im gutted i missed it (dam my mates, last year the fashion show and now this, next time im going!!) in fact it was so successful that they have broken the £80,000 mark already!!

anyway its football tomorrow and cant wait. the club are again using the nega launcher and this time launching 50 scaves into each stand before the game, so going to see the warm up will again come in handy (fingers crossed might even get one this time, missed out on the shirt :(). is a big game again tomorow as blackburn are a great team and Bentley is on fire! hope he has one of his off days!!! oh yea and my Arsenal tickets arrived in the post yesterday!!! yay!! cant wait. and its off the st james' park next week (we are going up for the weekend, am going up on friday and staying until sunday. boumsong - are u going to the game?? let me know if u are).

worst bit about this week - ended up on painkillers since late weds at work, about 10 mins before due to leave, got my hand caught in-between two cages, leaving my right hand very very bruised and about twice the size of the other hand - still really painful, but not on the painkillers now! see work is just a health hazzard!!1i shouldnt go.

blackburn, work, darts night, reading, oster
