This completes day 8 without power. thank god i've been able to mooch off others' power like i'm doing right now at my sister's house.

i haven't updated in awhile so i suppose i'll make this a longer entry. no one's going to be home for awhile so i definitely have the time to do so.

i'll start on day 1 of the storm. let me set the situation. we're all peacfully sitting in english class when suddenly a flicker of white catches my eye out the window. i'm instantly mesmerized by the snow that is falling from the sky given it was only october 12. so it begins falling harder with bigger flakes, and i begin laughing because of how rediculous it was. this is 8th period. 9th period rolls around and it continues to snow. nothing has stuck to the ground, but it's still incredible that it's snowing. at this point in time, i'm positive that i will be practicing inside for field hockey and that the powderpuff game will be off or inside. after our indoor practice, we all go to the powderpuff game held in the gym due to the snow on october 12. the game was extremely entertaining though i feel the senior cheerleaders were the highlight of the evening. juniors, you were rude and obnoxious during their performance. that is why the majority of the school doesn't like you. after the game, us GAA officers stayed late to decorate our hallway for the contest the next day. it took us forever because most of us weren't even done making our decorations (coughGOLFCARTScough). my father was calling my mom's cell phone continuously to make sure i wasn't driving home because i guess the weather had gotten bad. me, being the ignorant person i can be at times, was angered at the fact that my car would be stuck at school all night. i soon learned this was the least of my problems. as we walked to the car, i realized this night could be easily mistaken for one in late december because of the amount of snow falling and on the ground. we took katie baird home then took sara to our house for the night. this was day 1 of no power.

the next day we rebelled against the driving ban and brought sara home and then went to get my car. thank the lord for automatic starters. i spent the rest of my day in my pajama pants, thermal shirt, and rugby shirt. i also spent the day on the couch reading the 100 events that shook the world. at first, i was shocked that i had become so bored that i was reading coffee table books, but it was truely a fascinating book and i'm glad i read it. all of it. i fell asleep around 5 p.m. and awoke at 8 p.m. to find that the rest of my household (aka my parents) were turning in for the night because candle light can only go so far. we all fell asleep in random rooms on various pieces of furniture. this was day 2 of no power.

this brings us to saturday. we thought the phone wire had been ripped out of our house back on day 1, however today, we received a phone call. in fact, we received many phone calls. they were either from the republican party, telemarketers, or worried guests wondering if madison's 4th birthday was still on. we decided not to let the storm bring us down and gladly replied that the party was on. later that night, my mom, meg, tony, madison and i went to the o'neil's house to babysit two of their grandson's, brady and cody. this was my first interaction with electricity and heat in a few days and it felt like a luxury. we watched the tigers enter the world series and the sabres win 7-4. overall, a good night. we then went home to find a dark, cold house. my father was sleeping with a knit hat on. this was day 3 of no power.

sunday bloody sunday is next. this was the day of madison's party. it was little mermaid themed and she felt the need to hide whenever i or another family member walked in the room to test out her welcome of "surprise! welcome to my birthday party!" it was adorable and accepted. the party went well and i think having more people in the house created enough heat to make it liveable. i only wore two layers that day and it was of normal clothing. i spent that night at leann's house since she so graciously offered her heat and electricity to me. the maz twins were there as well and we watched spice world. the twins had to leave in the middle and missed the random police chase down north french that even involved search lights. we then watched the best of cheri oteri and i slept in lauren stiver's bed. if anyone's wondering why i have such awesome skills now, it's because i soaked up the greatness. though i was sleeping comfortable in a warm house, this was day 4 for my family of no power.

i woke up the next morning and lea and i had some tea and microwavable bacon. don't knock it till you try it. we then played some pool, i watched her beast at the guitar game, and then we played some ddr. this was the first time i had sweat since the power went out. her mother then bought us some mighty taco which was mighty nice of her. after getting changed, lea and i walked to 7-11 to get her phone card and pick up a copy of the amherst bee. i walked in the house to find mross and my mother waiting for us, and then i was starstruck. all i could do was read the amherst bee and hope to god that i didn't look as gross as i felt. my mother then took me home and i showered. to be honest, i do not recall what else i did after that. i just know that i met up with the fam at cheeburger cheeburger where a good time and milkshakes were had by all. we then explored the lovely plaza and went into party city where we met up with zoe and stef. i then drove to grand island for the first time ever and i must say, my mother has no need to worry. i also learned that you should have your money ready when you're approaching the tolls. in addition, moeny is located in the coin organizer, not the cup holder. at lp's we talked for hours on end then i forced everyone to watch family guy. after i watched the one episode i had been longing to watch, i sat in on a game of mancala then talked with kelly and chelsea till the cows came home. lp threatened to kill us more then once. once again, though i was living in the lap of luxury that night, it was day 5 of no power for my family back home.

we awoke the next morning to the running of the bulls, i mean dogs. lp's mother made us waffles because she loves us and then we left because lp had to work. i brought lauren home then showered at my house. my mother informed me of a sale at kohl's with shoes. i despise kohl's. however, i was really in the mood the go shoe shopping and thought how bad can it be. it was bad. i did not like any of the shoes kohl's had to offer me then i was scolded for being opinionated. it was raining outside which made me in an even worse mood that originated with my lack of sleep (yes, there is no one to blame for that but myself). after we reconciled, we went to panera because i knew that lp was working. though they had my usual panini, i decided to broaden my horizons with the lemon artichoke chicken one. it was delicious aside from the whole onion that was on it which i picked off. that night, ian came over for dinner because we had delicious stew. we then went to starbucks for coffee and dessert. then we watched the sabres kill the flyer 9-1. simply stunning. i didn't sleep in the basement that night though we had the heat hooked up with the generator we borrowed because it's pitch black down there with no power. and yes, this was day 6 of now power.

the next day was pretty relaxing for the most part. i was woken up around 815 a.m. to go work out but i was quite proud of myself afterwards. after a delightful shower my mother and i went to the galleria mall to fix my schedule at delia's due to the craziness caused by the so-called october surprise (in my opinion, it should only be called a surprise if it's something pleasant. this, on the other hand was something unpleasant. it should be called the october interruption). we then ate at jack astor's where we had delicioud asiago crusted chicken caesar salads. i highly recommend it. then we went furniture shopping at fws which is kind of a strange store but had much friendlier and helpful people than the matress firm. then we went home. i can't remember where my mother went that night but it was just my father and i with one tv. there was almost a showdown to see whose show would be viewed that night. somehow, i won because i forced him to watch america's next top model . the episode saddened me greatly since my favorite, a.j., was kicked off. a.j., i know you didn't look hurt after they kicked you off, but you had potential. you coudl've been great. now, my favorite is brooke. because i made him watch my show, he made me watch the biggest loser which wasn't bad. i slept ont he couch again that night and attempted to cathc the tail-end of laguna, but the generator kept dying and i lost hope. this was day 7 of now power.

which brings me to yesterday. my mother did not wake me up to work out like i had hoped, but i got to sleep in since she went to work. i didn't take a shower till about 2 p.m. because i was watching various movies on hbo one of them being love & sex. don't let the title push you away, deep down it's an adorable story of true romance in a dysfunctional relationship. i then continued to watch movies such as monster-in-law (also not a bad flick)until ian and his dad picked me up to go see the science of sleep. i enjoyed it immensely though it was a bit hard to dicipher. i wouldn't recommend it to those that aren't into "weird" movies. when i came home i packed up my stuff to spend the night and meg's since tony was out of town. we watched survivor and csi because she has tivo then we watched about 3 episodes of the duel. diem is my favorite. so is ct. though i was having an anjoyable evening in electricity, this was day 8 of now power for my family.

and here we are. today. meg brought me home around 1245 p.m. and i made some grilled cheese (the actual food) and went to practice at 2. we went out to our field only to find standing water on it which meant bad things. so, we practiced inside which wasn't bad. i got home around 5 after bringing amanda home then had to shower quickly to go babysit at meg's. i stopped at taco bell on the way there then got stuck behind a person the refused to go over 25 on the boulevard and hit possibly every red light between the intersection of maple and south ellicott creek. madison would not got to sleep during the first intermission of the sabres gaem so i only caught the 1st and 3rd periods. but, they won 5-4 so i'm in good spirits. that brings us to this journal entry. this unbelieveably long journal entry. wow, sorry guys.

i guess i should conclude this right here. congratulations if you just read through all of that. i'm sure it wasn't the most enlightening thing you've read.

can someone please tell me why justin timberlake is so awesome?

i'm out.
