I had an excellent break. On Saturday Jordan, Mandy, Chris, and I went to Huntley for a few days before driving to Mount Vernon, Ohio to visit the Kate. Before we got to Huntley we stopped to visit Mandy's aunt and also met her grandmother. She kept mentioning that Roxy is a burlesque name and just knew it wasn't my real name.
After dinner with the aunt, we went to Huntley. Then Piell came over and we all went to pick up Andi before heading to Chicago for Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind, which was fairly awesome. I lead my section in singing a few rounds of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat." Let me tell you, that was awesome. The show itself really was though. Or should I say shows? 30 2-minute plays in 60 minutes. Jordan and I want to go back sometime. After the show we went to Clark's for some food, since we had dinner at about 4:30 and now it was 1 or so. We were there when Daylight Savings began, so by the time we got back to Huntley it was about 5am. Poor Mandy. She drove while everyone else slept.
Due to our late night excursion, we stayed in bed until sometime around/after 12. Then we got up and it was rainy. Mandy and Chris decided the Art Institute was a no-go. I kept trying to reach my sister to see when we could meet up. Then Piell came over and we all played Scategories and Clue while Piell, Mandy, and Chris baked cookies.
We again stayed up late and slept in, though not as late in either case. I called Cara to leave a message and then it was off to see Julie and the girls! Miranda is so tall! She's growing into a very beautiful young lady. She did my nails and we listened to music on Eisley together. Tamra and Bailey were much the same as my last visit, and Bailey and Jordan got into mischief together. We had pizza for dinner, I got a call about my dad, and we played Cinco and Phase 10 for far too long (and didn't finish). No call from Cara :( so we finally headed back to Huntley.
Tuesday morning meant heading out for Ohio, so we got on the road late and made a stop at the Art Institute. Wow. That place is huge. But then I got really hungry and it was time to go anyhow. Another quick stop for some pizza in Hyde Park and we were off. Too many hours later we pulled into the Comfort Inn, courtesy of Mandy's wonderful parents. Kate soon joined us (and brought presents! i.e. Ohio cups)and it wasn't long before the manager came with a noise complaint. That's right folks, Mandy and I reenacted the
Train Bridge Incident for Kate, only to be informed by the Mount Vernon Comfort Inn Mangager.
So we decided to go get some food to avoid further repercussions. Friendly's was closed, but still had their Open light on until we pulled in. Wendy's was closed too, so we pulled into Taco Bell to find only the drive-thru open. We pulled up to order only to hear they were out of chicken. Yes Cara. Out of CHICKEN. I'm not sure where that rates on your list, but it was mighty high on ours. I, however, went ahead and ordered anyhow. Then we went back to Wendy's to use their drive-thru. And began to wonder if they called the cops on us, because we were all giggly and having a good time. So we must have been drunk or stoned. Because the entire purpose was not to be at the hotel, we ate in the car in a parking lot. Then we went back to the hotel because we had nothing else to do. We stayed up late talking and promised Kate to call her when we got up to join us for PBJs and swimming.
After noon we finally got up and called Kate, who had to work at 2:30. She came over though and showed us the way to her parents apartment so we could get driving directions to Cleveland and Eisley! Then she went to work and we went back to the hotel to leave Mandy and pack sandwich supplies. Then we were off! We got there about 6:30 and ate minimal food quickly so we could get in line fast. Almost an hour later we were inside and right up front. Then of course we became famished and wished we had eaten more. Brighten and Simon Dawes opened for Eisley. Both bands were alright, but the first one was sooooo loud! They hurt my poor ears. Eisley finally came on at about 10 and Stacy's organ was directly in front of us. Since the stage was only like 1-2' high Jordan actually leaned over and pressed a key at one point. Just because he could. Eisley came out and they were excellent, even though Chauntelle was sick and ended up sitting for half of the concert. Poor girl.
After the show ended we waited...and waited...and waited some more. Finally Weston and Garron came out. Then they went outside before the girls came out, so I didn't get them to sign Eisley (don't tell but I wanted to make sure the girls' signatures would fit first). When they finally came out I asked them to sign my iPod and they looked kinda surprised. Then Stacy went to sign it and noticed the engraving. She awwwed and immediately showed it to Sherri (who also awwwed)and one of the members of Brighten (who didn't seem to care). After the girls signed our things, we went outside to see if I could get the boys' signatures. Garron was standing just outside, so I quickly got his signature, but Weston was on the phone so we chatted with Garron while we waited. Eventually their manager came out and said it was time to go, so Garron grabbed my Pod to get Weston's signature before they took off. :)
The end result:
Then it was back to GOMV, Ohio to find Mandy and Kate watching Alias. Amusing. I was exhausted though, and not long after our return I was in bed. The next afternoon Kate treated us to lunch at Sips before taking off to work and leaving us with an admonition not to spend the day at the hotel being lame. So we wandered downtown, spending a good amount of time at the bookshop. By the time we finished checking out the block my poor feetsies were sore, so we went back to the hotel. Chris went to the pool, Mandy napped, Jordan turned on the TV, and I pulled out my book. Then Jordan decided to nap too.
It wasn't long before Kate got off work and a new adventure began. We stopped by the apartment for some gulash items before we went to visit Hogwarts (a.k.a. Kenyon or The Alternate Universe Cornell).
Then it was off to the store for the last of our supplies. By this time it was getting late so instead of going to a park as planned, we opted for making the gulash in the parking lot at the apartment. Amusing indeed. After the gulash it was back to the hotel to test out our Ohio cups. They work great, but once again it was quite late and we had to head out in the morning. We actually got up to the alarms and were on the road as scheduled! That was exciting. Mandy drove like a madwoman and (despite a major halt due to a bad accident) it wasn't a bad drive back. Of course, I was asleep for much of the time...
So now it's back in GOMV proper and I've yet to fix my sleep schedule. However, Jordan and I did get a few shows watched and gave Eisley her first photo shoot (see above), so I guess it's all good. And now....food!
