I finally watched most of the beginning of OTH that I missed Monday night.
Well, I'll give Chad credit for his effort. There were a lot of good things.
+ Joy's singing
+ Joy's costume
+ Some kind of cute NH scenes
+ Brooke's role was pretty true to her usual character
+ Paul was awesome, as I expected
The not so good...
- Hilarie's hair - ew. I don't know what's up with that color. Also, I'd really like her to eat.
- The speed of NH - I liked that some of their "things" (the rain, always and forever) were used, but I don't think so much of their story really needed to be shown in the one episode
- Peyton's scene on the bridge - the whole wanting to find love bit was so ridiculously cheesy
- The randomness of the episode - I'm glad Chad had his chance to write it, and I guess they did as well as they could fitting it in, but it didn't fit into the rest of the season as seamlessly as I would've hoped
Verdict? It was okay. A little too cheesy in some parts, even for OTH, for my taste, but it was really cool to see everyone in the costumes, especially Joy and the boys. I also loved it just because I was there for some of the filming, haha.
I think it's a little hard for me to judge how Chad is as a writer since this episode was so different. I'd like to see how he does with just a regular episode of OTH, but I doubt that will happen. For now I'll say it was a good first attempt.
