Lost - LA X

I love Lost :)

Watching how the final season kicked off and thinking back to the season 1 DVD feature where they talked about how everyone's lives connect, I think it's clear this show always knew where it was going. I also have no doubt that plenty of it was made up as they went along. So what? It's called writing. Anyway, it's been fun and none of it has actually taken away from the heart of the story.

I wasn't surprised about Sayid at the end and maybe that's because you mentioned it so I was expecting something with him. But mostly I think it was because they kept focusing on his dead body. I just figured he'd come back to life somehow. I'm wondering if Jacob is in habiting Sayid now (perhaps to be able to fight and kill not!Locke?). I did think it was funny when the guys at the temple said Sayid was dead right after they finished drowning him.

The most evil moment was Juliet saying "I have something important to tell you" right before she dies. ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?! Of course, I'd totally forgotten whatshisname can communicate with the dead, so I was pleased we weren't tortured very long about that. But uh, "it worked"?! I assumed we were simply getting two alternate views of the Losties - one in which the bomb went off and Jack's plan worked and the other one which the bomb didn't go off. Juliet saying it worked, though... I'm just going to have to enjoy the ride for now because I'm clueless about what's going on.

I really love the alternate story of their lives. I was very confused about Desmond being on the plane, though (and he and Jack not recognizing each other). Then Steve and I realized that the island being underwater changes Widmore's life. So whether or not Desmond is with Penny in this alternate version of their lives, he obviously didn't have to enter that sailing race to prove himself to Widmore (so he never met Jack while in-training).

I'd say not!Locke mentioning being in chains to Richard Alpert confirms my long-standing assumption that Richard was from the Black Rock. And I guess that means he was a slave, not part of the crew.

Hmm. What else what else...

I think it's cool that Christian Shepherd's body is missing, just like it disappeared from the original crash. It's also fun that Jack might end up fixing Locke's spinal injury and that Hurley is believes he's lucky (interesting that Jacob had told him he was lucky before he headed back to the island). I was wondering about Claire. She'd originally boarded 815 because the psyhic told her she needed to be on that flight (as if he knew it would crash), so I wasn't expecting her to be there. We didn't actually see her on the plane but either way, she'd obviously just arrived in LA.

That's about it for now.

tv, lost, kneejerk reaction
