got my first real six-string

This is actually my second guitar, but the first one was a full size acoustic that I tried to learn on when I was about 12. My mom indulged my whim and after two months of lessons, I pretty much gave up. Jump forward... a few years... and I'm indulging the whim again.

The man and I were at Best Buy a couple weeks ago and found ourselves randomly browsing the instruments area. And that's how I ended up with this:

It's a Fender Squier Mini (3/4 size) and I totally fell in love with it just because it's small and cool looking. The man thought it was perfect for me and started building this fantasy of me forming an all-girl Rush cover band (because we watched some show about Rush a few months ago and the band members said girls never liked their music). I didn't indulge my whim that day (or the man's girl-band idea), but when I was still thinking about that guitar a few weeks later, I went ahead and got one :)

In the week that I've had this thing, I think I've already learned more than I had after eight weeks of lessons when I was 12. For one thing, this guitar actually fits me way better than the full size one I had back then. Also... the internet! People make videos to show you how to play and they make tab charts and write step-by-step guides and... it's awesome! So even though I expect the novelty to wear off after a few months, I'm having a lot of fun right now with my new guitar.

But don't expect any Rush cover songs anytime soon.

i heart the internet, finally something new to do, music
