move over mark mckinney

Aug 04, 2007 13:08

ok, so you know how i've had some quasi-celebrity sightings while living here in toronto, what with mark mckinney stalking me and all, and then a few weeks ago when i saw fred armisen. well today i had my first MAJOR celebrity sighting, perhaps as MAJOR as it gets. it was so MAJOR that it made me feel funny in my tummy (and also my panties!)(gross robyn!).

standing less than three feet away from me was...are you sitting down?....

DAVID BECKHAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes, THE David Beckham. Becks!!! Mr. Posh!!! Mr. "Holy Hot, One Man Contains That Much Hotness?" himself!

So the back story:

I went to the market this morning. I got off the King Subway station and walked the rest to the market. i always pass by the King Edward hotel. i intentionally go this route because i like to look inside and see the fancy people. on my way to the market, i passed a few guys who were obviously professional autograph seekers. yes, these guys make their living getting the autographs of famous people and selling them on ebay. i overheard them say "do you think he'll sign things?". i had no idea who the eff they were talking about, and i didn't really care. i had peaches to buy! so off i went to the market to buy assorted produce and a cherry strudel (humina!) and then i got a latte and went to this cute park with a water fountain and had a picnic. it was very quaint, let me tell you.

once i was done, i decided to walk back past the king edward hotel (love those fancy people). so i turn the corner and see this huge bus idling by the front entrance and about 20 people waiting behind a velvet rope. at first i was just going to walk around the bus, but then i thought "well, i might as well see who it is". so i get up to the velvet rope and all of a sudden all these guys wearing yellow outfits that say "herbalife" on the front start walking out. i realized that they were players for the LA Galaxy. the ONLY reason i knew this was that the media has been wondering if Becks would be playing in toronto tomorrow, you know what with his ankle injury or whatever. so i see all these yellow-shirted people and i was thinking to myself "no way would Becks walk out here" because seriously, i was so close i could have touched him! i honestly didn't think a celebrity of his magnitude would just walk out the front door of a hotel, y'know? then all of a sudden i hear a few people start yelling, and then right before my eyes was the Hotness himself. I couldn't believe it! Here i was just on my way back from buying some effing strudel, and here before me (3 feet away!) was one of the most famous men in the world.

some observations:
1. in person? totally hot
2. but also a bit wrinkly and old-looking. i know that we, as a society, have established Becks' hotness, but have we commented that he should maybe consider using sunscreen?
3. he stopped and autographed stuff which allowed me to just stand there, mesmerized.
4. on his way into the bus, he was still holding onto this one person's marker, and the girl is like "can i have my marker back" and he smiled (hot!), and gave it back to her.
5. these are really boring observations, but i was totally starstruck and wasn't thinking clearly

so after becks went into the bus, i decided that i wanted to proceed to the subway and asked the guy if i could walk behind the rope. but he said that more players were coming out so he couldn't take the rope down, but i was allowed to walk behind the velvet rope anyway. i felt like a celebrity. ok, not really.

i am making this my first public entry since, like, january because i am just so pumped up about it. is that lame, to get pumped up over a celebrity sighting? i think i've been spending too much time on perezhilton.com.
