this weekend, for the first time ever, i won a game of texas holdem. i am telling you this because when it was down to the last two of us, i said "i have to win so that i have something interesting to write in my lj on monday". unfortunately, i only won because everyone else was tired. that only diminishes the sweet sensation of victory a little bit.

but it was a good weekend. busy, but good. a lot of driving, but good. maybe too busy? but still good. i am already planning next saturday's events. they are: sit on the couch. that is all.

friday night, we helped vanessa and tom move. it wasn't so bad. maybe i am becoming a moving expert and am no longer filled with dread when i think about it. of course, we were only there for 2.5 hours and just moved the larger items. on second thought, i am still filled with dread when i think about moving.

saturday, i was off to st.catharines for a day of lunching and lounging. now this i could do without dread. the lunch was great, and afterwards i baked oatmeal peanut butter raisin chocolate chip cookies. that is a lot of qualifiers for a cookie, but they were worth it. saturday night, a few of us went to watch trinity899's hubs play hockey and then went to a friend's for the aforementioned game of texas holdem. mel was babysitting a little girl named kate who is, quite likely, the most laidback, easygoing baby to have ever existed. she sat through a 45 minute hockey game without making a peep and then was full of smiles and cuteness when we got back. my ovaries were wildly throbbing. i really wish they would stop doing that.

and then, yesterday, i drove back to the city to get TSM and then we drove to orangeville for a family get together. TSM's brother had taken all of their bottles of alcohol, put it on the kitchen counter, and put a sign on it that said "DO NOT TOUCH, ROBYN". then they gave me a t-shirt with two glasses of beer on it that says "the night is only wasted if i am not". ah, the humour. it is not lost on me. oh, wait, yes...there it goes. totally lost.

ha.

it was a great weekend capped off with a viewing of Studio 60. this show is almost too slick and well-written. the camera movements are so smooth, the dialogue is fast-paced and witty, and everyone is very nice to look at it. it is the Cary Grant of tv shows. i feel like i should be wearing pantyhose and stilettos while i watch it.

last night i had a dirty dream starring jim/john krasinski (i am not sure if he was playing jim or himself but, really, does it matter?). that made waking up a little bit easier, if only because i can reflect on the dream for the remainder of the day. it is making this monday morning a little bit better.

family, television, weekend, friends
