Happy Independence Day, America!

i would do a picture post of what makes America great (pictures of starby's, target, margaret cho, and gilmore girls would surely make the cut) but since i am currently DYING OF HEAT i don't have the energy to do that. word in the office is that the air conditioning was just turned on and it's taking a while to get to the 6th floor. this sucks because i am feeling sweaty and gross and i am going to the theatre (or, "theatuh", as i like to say in my fancy british accent) tonight straight after work. we are seeing The Lord of the Rings musical. i am not all that excited to see this considering i haven't seen 2 of the 3 movies or read the book, but we got the tickets for 20 bucks apiece (regularly $120 per!) through an aquaintance so i figured i had nothing to lose. and beforehand we are going out for burritos, so that should be fun! but i hear this musical is, like, 4 hours long. dang.

yesterday TSM's bro's family came down to see our place and then to go shopping. we were so close to going to the cupcake shoppe, but then never made it. ah, cupcake shoppe, you tempt me with your buttercream offerings and then elude me! we did go to this giant candy store with all of these candy bars you can only get in the U.K. (galaxy chocolate being my favourite), and an entire store dedicated to storage bins. EXCITING. it was actually kind of neat, though, because they had different storage units for everything. they even had special tupperware for, like, hot dogs that were shaped like hotdogs and for a sandwich that was shaped like a sandwich. i looking for one of those cup-a-cake tupperwares that are meant to hold cupcakes, but was unsuccessful. we came back to our apartment and took the kids swimming in the pool of our building. i totally felt like i was on melrose place, but unfortunately, there was no grant shaud or andrew shue on the pool deck.

after they left, we changed into more comfortable clothes, hence KFed's visit to apartment 311. we watched multiple episodes of Dog: The Bounty Hunter and i made some birthday cards for the moms and embroidered a bit. i was feeling pretty excellent last night. like i had spent the perfect amount of time relaxing with the perfect amount of time socializing and being productive. at one point, i was staring at my foot with its freshly polished toenails and had one of those zen-like moments where everything felt perfect. in that one precise moment, i was filled with happiness. hopefully i'll be able to remember that moment, staring at my foot on july 3rd at approximately 9:00 p.m. for those times when i am damning all the world to hell.

aside from burritos and LOTR, today's excitement includes:
- dying from the heat
- a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch
- having a guy call me for Funeral Home cards and he sounded like a robot. i mean, geez guy, can't you say "hello"? i pick up the phone and he's like "tim smith from smith funeral homes i need 50 cards by 1:30 p.m. today my address is...". where is your civility, man? seriously.
- regretting the decision to wear pants

family, television, shopping, summer, achieving zen
