What do I Want to Happen in 2009?

Jan 03, 2009 01:04

Instead of new year's resolutions, I created how I wanted my 2009 to look like. Its definitely a good way to look at it. Hope you could all be a part of it and help me achieve these goals. :)

I want all of these to come true, so any sign of me wavering, please snap me out of it and I won't take it against you :)

What do I Want to Happen in 2009?

1)    I am in a positive state of being. I look at life through a different view - with hope, faith and love.

Positivity is hard work with so many elements that could influence one’s state of being. But I want to stay in a positive outlook for majority of the year. So if you see me being pulled into ‘the dark side’, just give me a sharp tug and get me out of it.

And positivity is always catching, so if you find me being too dang cheery, you have been forewarned.

2)    I am able to pay for my condo for one year. And I am able to save a part of my salary at the same time.

2009 will definitely be challenging financially due to the current Global crisis and my big purchase. It’s going to be a challenge but this takes top priority when it comes to my finances. This means cutting back on other unnecessary expenses (*cough* shopping *cough* spa *cough* parlor *cough* food *cough*) and exercising a tremendous amount of self-control.
I just hope nothing urgent arises in the middle of the year.

3)    I acquired new skills that could help me career-wise. And is able to make good and practical decisions.

I am putting my plans to pursue my masters aside for the meantime, but it doesn’t mean it will be disregarded forever. When the time seems right will I dust it off and pursue it.

For the meantime, I want to focus more on acquiring new skills for work. I think our HR and management has something up their sleeves for us next year and I’m willing to take advantage of it.

4)    I have a clean bill of health and also lost 5 to 10 pounds.

My uncle’s scare has got me really thinking of pursuing a healthy living this year. And so I plan to diligently get medical and dental check-ups to ensure my system is working fine. Better to be safe than sorry.

Included in this plan is being conscious about what I eat and being motivated to get exercise on a regular basis.

I also want to be smoke free by the end of the year. But I’m going to start slow by lessening my stick intake per day and to not get my own pack and lighter.

5)    Our group hits our targets every month for the year. I spearhead/am part of one major breakthrough project.

Although it’s been common knowledge that business will not be so good this year, I am determined that our group will do good this year. This of course will take an immeasurable amount of teamwork, patience, courage, and people skills.

Our 2008 has been a little lack-lustered when it came to breakthrough projects, but it will definitely be a challenge for this year. Its one way of getting clients to spend a little bit more and so ensuring us of the target.

6)    My photography skills have vastly improved. I have taken my eventology skills to the next level. I can already cook a simple meal.

I really, really want to learn how to cook, even if it’s just a simple ulam and a refrigerator cake. This was one thing I wasn’t able to tick off in 2008, but I want to make this happen in 2009.

Practice can only make perfect. I already set the foundation in 2008, and for this year I want my skills in photography and perhaps, make-up artistry, to improve. No going pro, yet, but its definitely something to think about.

I am up for new challenges when it comes to my eventology skills. I just love organizing events for my friends and family, but I’m definitely honing my expriences and connections I’ve made into something bigger.

7)    I traveled to places I’ve never been before - one in the Philippines and one abroad.

If there were anything I wouldn’t cross out of my expense list, it would be travel. Traveling is one of my passions and exploring some place new is such a thrill for me. As much as possible, I will take advantage of cheap tours and means of travel. I was thinking Coron or Batanes this year for the Philippines, and maybe China or Indonesia abroad.

8)    I made a difference in somebody’s life.

This is gives a sense of purpose and gets me going everyday. It could range from a simple smile and warm hug to brighten their day, to moving heaven and earth for their well-being. From family and friends to strangers alike.

9)    I stayed connected with old friends, cherished those people around me, and make new friends. My relationship with my family is stronger than ever.

Facebook was probably the best trend of 2008. I was happy to get re-connected with many of the people I know. It’s actually a very pleasant surprise to see people you haven’t talked to in so many years and be able to catch up with them. And I want that again this year. It doesn’t have to be as big as the high school reunion, it can be simple get-togethers, messages in FB or multiply, and the like.

I also plan to tie the still many loose ends I’ve left hanging. And to also keep in-check on any loose ends that will happen with in the year.

10)    I found the love of my existence.

If there’s anything that I want in 2009, it’s that. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a hot vampire, but somebody as close to Edward gets bonus pogi points. ☺

It’s someone I could love unconditionally and accepting that person as whole and complete. And that I could be willing be anybody that person wants me to be. And ofcourse the same love reciprocates, even how much I drive it away.

It would take a lot of courage, opening up and risk-taking but I’m determined to do it, even if it means getting hurt in the process.
