The Richmond Legacy - Yes I'm actually doing this!

Feb 01, 2014 00:28

Author's Note: Welcome back to THE RICHMOND LEGACY! Wait, what?! Yes... I realized I am one baby away from completing my first legacy challenge ever! And I know it has been over two years since I last posted a chapter of this legacy, and I also realize most of the people who read my journal now weren't reading my journal back then. I was seventeen when I wrote that chapter. SEVENTEEN. I'm twenty now. Holy shit. ANYWAY. I'm mostly doing this for myself, because goddamn it I want to finish a legacy! And it's pathetic -- the teenagers in the household now need to have kids, and then I have completed the challenge!!! So. I'm doing it. And I'm posting it, because I thought some of you might want to read ^_^

Note that even if you have never read a chapter of the Richmonds before, you can still read this! I'm going to try to write this bearing in mind that, because since it's been two years, everyone (including myself) has forgotten who these sims are anyway. I will introduce everyone, I won't really reference anything that happened before, and you'll only have to learn a few names because half of the household is going to move out!

So, I hope you do read! <3 I really do love this family, and I'm really excited to be this close to finishing the legacy challenge for the first time! I started these guys in October 2009, and I've come this far, it's quite silly not to finish. So, happy more than 4 year anniversary, Richmonds (I've had them around longer than I've been dating my boyfriend!), and let's get on with a short intro chapter!

The Richmond Legacy: Welcome Back!

If you would like to read the previous chapter, it's from 2011 and is linked above. But, you could read this without reading that and be completely fine. Also, if you'd like to read more of the Richmonds, have a look at my archive!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So! This is the Richmonds' house in Appaloosa Plains. I actually built it right around the time I stopped playing this family, so I haven't gotten to use it much. I'm honestly really proud of it! And I think my building skills have deteriorated since then. If you'd like a tour of the house, here's the post you're looking for! I based it off a picture I found on the internet. It's also on a 50x50 lot rather than 64x64, because this was back when I was playing on my laptop and I was having lots of lagging and crashing issues.
Yeah, I guess it's been awhile.
When I last wrote, December 15, 2011, I hadn't yet turned 18, and Pets had just come out. Realize that means I did not have Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise, or Into the Future.
So, let's meet the family, shall we?
First of all, this is Sydney Richmond. Now, Syd has been the immortal sim in this household for quite some time. She is a member of generation 4, and the teenagers living now are her great-great-great grandchildren. She has mastered every skill (well, before I got 6 more expansion packs, I guess) and is a five-star chef, obviously. She has done everything for this household for awhile -- cooking perfect-quality meals that only a sim with maxed cooking skill can make; painting all the heirs' portraits; maintaining the (recently reduced) family garden; etc. She is definitely one of my favorite sims ever. (Though I wish I'd made her immortal before she became an elder! I might have to age her down or something now that I have mods.)
Read this only if you care: Sydney's mother was Hope (gen 3), whose father was Chase (gen 2), whose father was Joey (the first child born into the legacy, gen 1), whose father was Charlie (the founder). Sydney also had a twin named Julianna and they were adorable together. Sydney's daughter was Reina (gen 5), whose son was Miles (gen 6), whose daughter you are about to meet.
This is Ruby! She is Sydney's great-grandchild. She is a nice Evil sim, and a fashion designer, who slept around in her youth and had four children with three different men. I gave her a cat sweater and she hates me for it. I think it softens her up a bit. She also likes to play the upright bass.
Ruby's youngest daughter is Adria. Adria is an elf, hence the face paint and the fact that she never wears shoes. Her LTW was to be a one-sim band, and she's pretty good at all the instruments so far.
Adria married Alec (made by the lovely cris009 back when spouse submissions were a thing) who has the strongest genes ever. All his kids are clones of him. You'll see what I mean. He's also a hilarious sim and likes to invent things and garden. He and Adria have four children together.
The oldest, and only girl, is Serendipity, who you saw standing on top of the horse (Dusky) earlier. She's Disciplined, Artistic, a Mooch, and Rebellious, and her lifetime wish is The Jockey, in other words I think mastering the riding skill and making a certain amount of money from horse-related things. She has completely random hair and eyes (dark green) but her face is a really nice mix of Adria and Alec!
Jude, the second-born, on the other hand, is a total clone of his father. He is Evil, Athletic, Adventurous, and Flirty, and doesn't have a LTW yet. He's quite a cutie, although that's entirely because so is Alec. :P
Chance is Jude's twin, and this isn't a very good picture of him! He's Eccentric, Brave, Over-Emotional, and Handy, and he rolled the LTW to Be an Astronaut when he was a little kid. I thought that was so cute, so although he is not the military type at all, that's what he'll be doing. He has his father's face entirely, but his mother's hair which I like!
Last but not least, this is Jonah. This poor kid has kind of been neglected his whole life. He's Neurotic, Artistic, and Inappropriate (hence the South Park shirt, lol), and he looks exactly like Jude, and therefore Alec (except he has Adria's eyes). I never really decorated a bedroom for him, or invested in him much. So he doesn't really have hobbies like the other three. :(
Here's a quick overview of the main floor of the house! I was a much more colorful decorator back then, I guess. Or maybe it's that with the Atwoods, I go for realism, which I don't have to do here! The living room (left) is the same colors as my bedroom at home. It's a little overwhelming in the game, but it's pretty nice in real life :) And the kitchen has had that color scheme across at least the last two houses.
I think it's quite fun.
Last time I played this, I was writing a Christmas 2011 special for this family! So there is some holiday paraphernalia around.
Actually there's an entire room devoted to it! This is where I shot all the Christmas stuff (which is this chapter if you really want to read it... merry Christmas I guess?). Actually that's also the chapter where Seren, Jude, and Chance become teenagers, as well as being a Christmas special! So that's fun :)
Anyway, also in the basement we have this awesome room full of skill certificates! I think I only have them for generation 5 onward, because a long time ago when I was around that point in the legacy, I had a corrupted save file and the family barely made it out alive. We lost all the mementos, paintings, etc. from before then, but we've filled up a lot since! :)
So, here is my plan. The only way I could feel motivated to do this was to age all the kids up to young adult right now and get to work on generation 10 babies right away. So although Jonah is still a child and the other three have just become teens, we are doing a four-way birthday right now!
Alec: YAY MY CHILDREN ARE GROWING UP!
Seren and Jude: Ugh
Chance: Me and Jonah are excited, right Joe?
Jonah: Yeah!
Wahoo birthdays! Jonah has to do two in a row, lol.
CAS pictures ahoy! (And apparently they get huge when I edit them in Photobucket?) Here's Seren as a young adult. I gave her the equestrian trait to help her with her LTW! Also you'll notice everyone has the artistic trait. It's been the family trait since the beginning! With the unintended side effect that none of them ever really paint anymore - it's become like an invisible trait. :P Anyway, I gave her some highlights that I thought suited her! All I did was drag the lightness bar down on her natural brown color, and it came out nice and orange! So that's fun. I think she turned out beautiful!
And here's Jude! He got the Insane trait, which is so much fun. I haven't had it ever in the Atwoods because it would just complicate things to have my sims in the wrong outfits all the time. As expected, Jude turned out as a clone of his father. He's so cute though!
Chance got the Over-Emotional trait (I think?), and is also a clone of Alec, facially. But he has the hair! <3
And Jonah gained two really great traits, Dramatic and Kleptomaniac. I guess that's what I get for essentially neglecting him. He wants to be a master mixologist, because I think that's a fun skill! And it matches the unexpectedly bro look I ended up giving him. I really like the beanie XD
YAY FOR FOUR SEXY GENERATION NINE KIDS!
So, here's the plan! I'm going to have each of these guys have children, without any of them being necessarily the heir. Or you can think of it as a quadruple heirship. I think I will end this legacy once I get the generation 10 kids to childhood or maybe teens or young adults. I'm strongly considering starting another comedy-style legacy, because I realized I've really missed playing the game in this way. But, by no means am I giving up the Atwoods. They have definitely become the priority. So, we'll get through generation 10 of these guys, and then see what happens. But aren't these four so cute?!
I realized I needed to have their portrait painted, and decided to do a group one!
Sydney, um, that looks almost unrecognizable.
Syd: I promise it's going to be good!
All right...
I guess at least we will always have this picture...
They were precious :3
In fact, there are a lot of photos scattered around the house! It was fun finding all of them again, since it's been so long since i played this family!
Jude: "What's this giant machine?"
Oh, that's a time machine I guess! Pretty outdated now that Into the Future is here, though.
Jude: "Into the what?"
Never mind. You won't be doing any of that, so it's not really important.
In the end, I had Sydney take a photo for this generation's portrait. It went up on the wall next to the portraits that were painted after the infamous corrupt save file: Sydney, Reina, Miles, Ruby, and Adria! <3
Then I decided I liked photoshoots, so here are the four adults of the house! Ruby, Alec, Adria, and Sydney :)
Seriously, these two are precious.
Yay, a family!!
Too bad all four older adults are going to move out now! I'll miss them, although they won't be too far. (They only moved across the street!) So Seren, Jude, Chance, and Jonah will have room to move in spouses and have some babies :D
Adria & Sydney: "Bye kids!"
Jonah: "Wait, I was a child this morning, and now I'm an adult and my parents are moving out? What's happening?!"
Jude: "This sucks. I'm going to be stuck with these three losers."
Yeah, you better run!
Seren: "What was I thinking?! Now I am living with three smelly boys. Could this day be any worse?"
Chance: "I reject your assertion that I smell."
Jonah: "I probably smell. I don't know when I last showered, and suddenly I have hormones and sweat glands."
Jude: "I only stink with the scent of evil!"
Don't worry though, Seren, you're not alone quite yet. Everyone got piled up at the spiral staircase. *sigh*
Also, there's Gabriel! He was Reina's spouse, so Ruby's grandfather. I forgot what it's like having ghosts roaming around the house!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I know this was very short but I just wanted to get it out there as a little re-introduction to this family! I honestly missed playing them quite a bit and have been really enjoying myself doing so the past few days. (Cough because I have writers block for the Atwoods cough what?) I swear I will not neglect the Atwood legacy, but I also really want to finish this challenge, like I said before! So, if anyone is reading this, I do hope you enjoyed it :) I'm going to try to get all four of these guys to have kids, so I can celebrate finishing what I started in 2009! Wheeeee! Thanks for reading! Don't forget to comment if you did read! Thanks, guys, and happy simming <3
