Luckily, Dad's been stabilized at the hospital and he's doing much better, waiting to go back home to his easy chair, but he's content with watching FOX News all day, just like he would be at home.
I've spoken with my stepmom and Dad's former secretary and they've been able to catch up on all back orders at the office. I've told her that as soon as I'm done with the professional cleaners, contractors, disassembling the furniture and donating the rest to Craigslist, unpacking the storage unit onto a trailer and hook up to my Scion XA, when I've made the arrangements with my former landlord (who's rented out the room I was in, but has a spare room half the size for cheaper rent), I'll head down as early as I can. Driving the 2-3 day trip down to the Tampa Bay area in the middle of summer.
I look at the calendar and see my chance to say goodbye to my longtime convention friends so close, yet now unreachable. I've said that I'll come down early even though Dad will probably be out of the hospital and back to normal again before I even get there.
