I was just watching Conan O'Brien and it would seem that before fame, James Lipton, of Inside the Actors Studio fame, once found employment running a French sex show. Running isn't even quite the word-- apparently he was like a pimp, setting young American tourists up with his "girls" and remaining in the room to translate any requests made by the American men into French for his Parisian whores. Apparently he wasn't the one in charge either-- it would seem the practices in Paris were that the whores traditionally ran their own business and hired men like Lipton for a small fee.
