Hooray for mutually assured destruction.

I'm writing my paper about The Lady From Shanghai.  Basically, I've written how the world in which a woman (especially a femme fatale) moves the plot instead of the male protagonist is a world in which everything falls into utter chaos. I love writing about old movies because I can talk about such dated sexist ideas and have it ring true concerning the movie in question. This movie was about a woman who doesn't know her place, doesn't submit to the will of her husband-- and she gets punished for it in the end. It actually leads to the destruction of every one of the main characters. Even Orson Welle's character, who didn't die but is left trying to forget the woman who had bewitched him.
And I may have borrowed a few lines from my LJ entry yesterday to insert in the paper. Sad? Maybe...
Back to writing about old sexist males and the women who kill them.
