It's 2:17. I'm getting ready for work.
SO I have to work today. Not only do I have to work today, but my shift is 3pm-12am. Why, do you ask, are my hours so insanely late for a Sunday evening? We're uselessly and for no reason other than perhaps boredom? Moving the denim walls from the back section of the store to the front section. I have to spend 5 hours after the store closes moving jeans... hundreds of thousands of jeans... from one end of our stupid little store to the other. So. Fucking. Dumb.
In other news, *semi-related* I am in the market for a REAL job. No more soulless corporate retail job with minimum wage and maximum humiliation *WOULD YOU LIKE TO SIGN UP FOR A GAP CHARGE AND SAVE 15 PERCENT??!!*. Instead, I will be trading it in for the (slightly less soulless but not by much) Magazine or newspaper interning. RI Monthly is looking for an intern for the summer/beginning of the school year. I sent them my resume and some samples of my academic writing in order to procure said position---who knows if I'll get it, but a girl can hope right?? Anyway, I figured I can also send the resume, now that its been written, to Kent County Daily Times, PROJO, and Coventry Courier, see if they're looking for interns as well. Any other area newspaper or magazine would be nice. I figure if I can intern til the end of my schooling, I can move up as soon as I graduate within the same magazine/newspaper I was interning at-- giving me an "in" to a real job. A CAREER, if you will. That, my friends, would kick serious ass. No more gapcards please!
