So this is something I have been wondering about a bit lately. I know the vast majority of the icons I post on here are fairly simple. I do recolorize and enhance them a bit, but for the most part they remain pretty simple.

But I can make much more complex icon (major messing with the colors, using textures, adding text, ect...). These types of

So is it the border that makes it a Russian style icon or just manner of animation, or something else?
