I feel so lost with the rush of Otakon over. I mean, I have South Korea to look forward to now, but it's still 3 months away and I don't have much to do in preparation until I get word about my visa. Then I'll have to buy suitcases, stock pile toiletries, quit my job and various other little detail things. Bleh, I wish I had a con to get ready for or something... But the truth is I don't think I can afford another con before Korea. Perhaps if it were a local con that I could go to for a Saturday, but I think the closest one to me is AFO in Orlando this weekend. Yea, Orlando is about four hours away AND I'm weekend reporter. Blast. I think the same thing happened with Metrocon in Tampa last month...
I had heard about a small con over in Ft. Lauderdale in September which would be closer. It's only about an hour and a half from me. But I think it's been cancelled, so that one is out. And the rest of the Florida cons are happening December through April, so yea. Pretty much shoots down all my con hopes... Unless by some miracle of God I can afford a plane ticket, hotel and registration (not to mention find people to stay with) and go up to AUSA. But that is definitely NOT happening. Oh to still be in Oklahoma and able to go to Mini-con this weekend and hang out with my OK/AR buddies that I miss so very much... *sniff* I feel lost with all my cosplay buddies in other states and parts of the world...
Anywho, so I'm stuck with nothing to do. If I had a laptop, I would spend my free time getting it set-up and re-uploading my iTunes, but I can't get that for another two or three paychecks. I can't work on a cosplay for our Korean shoot, because I haven't checked out any manwah yet. (Oo! Something to do!!) I'm tempted to start working on the upgrades for Sister Kate, since I'm not sure how readily avaliable the materials I'm going to need will be in Korea. And because what I need is fairly cheap. My family is going out of town for a week soon, so that will probably be my 'get-done-while-they're-away-so-I-won't-be-lectured' project. Plus, I still need to figure out how I'm going to make the back piece...I need a good reference picture.
But yea, Sister Kate is going with me to Korea. I figure that if I get the chance to go to a Korean (or Japanese) convention and I want to cosplay, she is my best bet since I look most like her out of all my cosplays. And because it's definitely the one cosplay I've put the most effort into.
But yea, I seem to write an awful lot for not having anything going on. I suppose I'll head out to work now. Though I would much rather go back to bed. I covered a school board meeting last night and didn't get out of the office until about 10 p.m. And then I just had to stay up until midnight finishing Vol. 5 of Trinity Blood. I love that series. I think I'm going to go on a Trinity Blood binge while my family is gone and watch it from start to finish. I definitely need to start from the beginning again, since it's been so long since I've watched it.
And it gets me in the mood to work on more Trinity Blood cosplay. ^_^ I'm so excited about switching from nun to vampire. Perhaps if the mood strikes me (and I find some good deals) I'll start picking up some of the material for Seth. Though, her legwarmers are going to be a bitch to knit...if I can even figure out how to knit them...
