It's Official...

I'm going to Otakon! My boss was totally fine with me needing off. So I came straight home and bought my plane ticket. Hooray! *does the happy dance* Of course, I probably should have mentioned this to mom before buying it, but she knows I'm going and I told Dad before I bought it, so I covered all the bases.

It feels so good to have my plane ticket purchased. I feel at ease knowing that everything is official and that I'm going. The only down side is that my flight back leaves at 9:58 am on Sunday. So, no Sunday stuff for me....*sniff* BUT I'M GOING TO OTAKON!

Work today was pretty good. They kind of took it easy on me, since it was my first day and I only had one story assignment, so there were a few times in between doing things that I felt a tad bit bored. But I kept working and my story about a kid's cooking class on Saturday will be in the paper tomorrow. And I cover my first event/assignment on Monday. I think I'm going to do okay. It's not too hard, but I'm kept busy so everything is good. I think I need to invest in some pens and a bigger notebook for interviews. And maybe some more work-like clothes. I'm officially a journalist now. Whoo hoo!

Well, I suppose that's all. I had planned to work on Sister Kate a bit tonight, but I don't think I'm going to get to it. I'm taking my brother to a baseball game that starts at 7 pm. But I can work on it tomorrow and I have all day Saturday to make a big dent in her. So far, I've got the main shell of the dress done and the zipper in. Once I got the main part done yesterday, I spent a lot of time finetuning the silloette of the dress to give it more of an empire waist. I'll probably devote a good chunk of time cleaning up hems and little things like that next time I work on it before I attach the collar and sleeves. It just seems easier to do that stuff along the way instead of waiting until it's all put together. But yea, I've got to attach the collar, make and attach the sleeves, put the blue trim on, make a petticoat/ faux petticoat, then make the collar and the two habits.

Yup, life is sweet.
