So, the weekend from hell officially ended yesterday. Thank God it ended a whole day earlier than it was suppose to. My parents' friends from Oklahoma visited this weekend, bringing their three children ages 2, 7 and 10. Now, my parents have been passed the small children stage for awhile now. My brother is entering middle school, my sister just graduated from high school and I just graduated from college. So it was quite the experience for us to be in tight living quarters with these three little heathens.
And no, I am not exaggerating when I call them heathens. The oldest was quiet, but whiny. She kept the entire house up Sunday night because she couldn't hack the sunburn she got at the beach that day. And no, I'm not being heartless. I'm the queen of killer sunburns (and have been since I was a child). I have suffered from much worse sunburns and didn't whine nearly half as much as she did. Bleh, and then the little bugger got to sleep in until 11 while the rest of us were forced from our beds at 8:30 am by the hyper-active middle child.
The middle one was probably the most rude little boy I have ever met. When you told him no, he didn't listen at all. And he had a bajillion questions about stupid things. (And these where not your normal little kiddy things.) I wanted to throw him in the pool or chunk a pillow at him just to get him to shut up. On top of all that, he couldn't leave my brother's PS2 alone.
Oh, but these two were nothing compared to the little bundle of joy that was the youngest son. He managed to break the door off my parents' $1000 entertainment center that they had just bought, shattering frosted glass all over the living room. Then, he nearly breaks my brother's new wireless PS2 controller. He almost broke the sliding door out to the pool, and left it filthy from opening and closing it 3 million times. Oh, but the worse was probably when he pooped in our pool, then continued to swim around in it before getting out and dribbling it all over the lanai. I have never been so happy to have been out of the house. This little ordeal happened while I was out cosplay shopping at JoAnn's, which was mainly a cover for getting out of the house in order to save my sanity.
They left last night, which was a miracle because they were suppose to leave this morning. I was not looking forward to getting ready for my first job interview while they were trying to leave for Oklahoma.
Speaking of which, my first interview is officially done. I still have to meet with the editor of the newspaper but I should know by the end of the week if they want to offer me a job. The interview went okay, but I really feel like I could have done better. Oh well, no use crying over spilt milk. My next interview is next Tuesday night. It's a phone interview for a teaching position in Korea. I'm really nervous about it because I really want the job.
Oh heavens, I am so ready mentally for Otakon. Of course, I still have to finish Sister Kate and get my plane ticket., but I really don't care how much time and money it takes at this point or whether or not I have a job. I just want to go and get away from Florida and my family for a bit and have fun with my friends. I've almost been in total isolation since coming home and it's driving me crazy. I seriously think the only thing that has been keeping me sane are my conversations with Avenly and Cosplay.com.
Oh, Otakon...may you hurry and bring me relief...
On a good note, I think my mom is completely okay with me going now. I was a little worried she would see it as a waste of money since I don't have a job yet, but she hasn't argued with me about it. *crosses fingers* Here's to hoping she stays okay with it.
