That's sort of implied in the 'figuring it out' as opposed to 'stumbling over it'. :)

I've figured out things that I then couldn't remember completely, and couldn't remember how I'd gotten there in the first place. They made perfect sense at the time, but all the context was missing. And I know for a fact I followed a clear line of reasoning to get there!

That's a frustrating feeling.
