Limit, Finished

After much pondering, I finally decied to color Limit's mane and tail, shading gradually from white roots to deep blue tips. (A variant the_vulture suggested, that I'd been considering after posting the poll). I also tied up his mane to make the mane less overwhelming on the right side. He looks pretty similar from the left side, but on the right the change ( Read more... )

I'm glad that idea worked well. And the shiny kinda works; those bright highlights actually add to the visual dynamic. They could use some toning down in the photos, though, maybe with less direct lighting and a tripod to hold the camera steady for a longer exposure. That way, you'll get the dark blue richness back.

Yeah, I don't really have the equipment for photography. And the pony decorations for my next planned projects have been ... pricier than I would've liked. c.c

Oddly, it's the lighting that's hardest. *All* my light fixtures are ceiling. I have exactly one clamp light. Everything else is permanently mounted. No lamps at all.

Yeah, lighting can be tough, but even that can be remedied. You can use thin paper to diffuse direct lighting (just don't attach it directly to the light), use mirrors (or aluminum foil) to bounce it at the ceiling to get more ambient light, or shoot in daylight, using a stool/stack of books as tripod so you can shoot with a longer exposure (needing less light), if there isn't enough daylight.

(How can you tell I was an art student once? XD )
