I don't remember now if I've done this before or not.
Terrycloth was talking about playing EQ2, which reminded me of all my EQ war stories. These are not just gaming stories, no. These are "When I was a kid, we walked uphill for ten miles in the snow to get to school, and WE LIKED IT" stories.
Then
koogrr encouraged me to reminisce, so blame him.

And then we saw the ginormous pile of overlapping gnolls rushing the towards us.
When Lut and I had 50ish characters, we went back to Blackburrow once for an evening, just to buff and heal newbies and derail trains
I don't think I ever did kill Holly Windstrider, the 50ish ranger NPC that would roam the hills and swat down anyone who was fighting a wolf or bear -- including people who'd been attacked by rabid ones and were just trying to escape them. But I *really* wanted to.
You're right, I exaggerated. You could outrun things in EQ sometimes. It was just *hard*.
And on the quest:
OwowowowowowowOW. :( I refused to do most of the really noxious quests that involved tons of grinding and camping rare spawns. Eyugh.

There's a "Wooo-Wooo" noise in WoW, from the /train emote. I have to wonder. I thought the mobs in WoW chased, they at least have a leash range.
I've got the "Has Anybody seen my Corpse" MP3, just to pretend.

Eq2 also has the /train emote, though the voice is different for different characters / vocals. (My female ratonga's emote is "Hi! I brought along some friends!" But then, her vocal set is 'crazy'.)
I'm still playing EQ2 and enjoying it, tried WoW and it lasted about 6-8 months before it became too damn boring.
