Well, I've been back for a few days and have been lazy about posting, but here's how the trip went.
First of all, the weather was so muggy! Luckily, it wasn't that hot but the humidity made it worse. It's so nice that you can walk around the city and things are actually in walking distance! I found an apartment in one day, it was amazing! I used an apartment finder company, which is free to use. They get commission from the landlords so that's how they make money. This really nice guy helped me and my mom out and we actually had a good time the whole day, even though it was tough finding the place. I will be living in a really nice apartment high rise building, about six blocks from campus, so I can definitely walk to school everyday. I'll be on the 37th floor in a realy big 1150 square foot two bedroom two bathroom apartment. There's a gym in the building, as well as adry cleaners.
We were pretty tired after that but we still managed to get out and walk around the surrounding areas. I awas able to take my mom by the genetic counseling program and introduce her to the director. My mom had seen her picture so many times and so it was nice for her ot finally meet her. It was a quick trip, but I"m pretty excited about the move, and of course nervous. We're starting to think about what I'll need and that's the best part about moving, all the fun stuff you get to buy!
I'm still waiting on the financial aid office to send me my award letter so I know how much money I'll get in loans. I'm hoping they follow through soon.
It's been realy hot here lately, I really don't understand it. I can't decide if dry heat or humid heat is worse.
Oh yeah, and as a gift, my parents bought me a color identifier! I'm so excited about it, it's been so fun going around and confirming what colors I think are and finding out what colors are. It's not always totally accurate, but it's nice to have, and definitely better than nothing.
And, I'm loving my new bookshare membership! For those of you who don't know, it's a website where blind people can download books that others have scanned. I"m reading some more books that are required for summer reading.
Alright, I think that's my update for now, and oh yeah, I think I"m the only one on the planet not reading Harry Potter. lol
