Will to the power

So yeah, we had another interesting sermon in church today, the good ole guys from XXXChurch came again to speak (www.xxxchurch.org). They had some great points I want to tackle

Later on in the sermon, one of the guys starts telling us about how his attempts to get in shape were failing him. It seemed that no matter what he bought, the gym membership, the bowflex, the running machine, etc., yet having none of these worked for him. He tried going to the gym, only to see himself getting laughed at and then not even having the guts to show up at the gym anymore, not even to cancel his membership. He had the bowflex put in one of his rooms, and with him it was always a new problem and excuse to hold himself back. He needed air conditioning, Direct TV installed, or whatever. And even after he got those, he still didn't use it. He also at one time bought an electronic ab strengthener, that sent shocks in his abs region and were supposed to give him a six-pack. That also didn't work for him, and he barely even used it. note that this was not a big guy; rather a small and skinny one. He was foreign to working out, and thus afraid to start something so unknown to himself. When he needed someone to push him along, he had no one, and thus got lazy. He was not held accountable for skipping workouts. I'd like to point out my rowing this summer as a great example of how it helps to have others around. We'd go for a row in the morning, and I'd see the workout and be like "not today!" and think of excuses as to why I needed to take it easier. Well, those excuses never even came out of my mouth, mainly because I had a group of others there with me that were going to do those workouts with me. There was also a coach watching over me. It was great to have a group of ppl to push myself along with, and that's why I got faster this summer and won all my races. I kind of wonder if the same thing would happen to me in other aspects if I could find the same group, like playing guitar for example. I think it'd be so much more motivating to be playing with a group than just by myself, I really don't stay that focused by myself and I often waste time and don't push myself as much as I should. I think I could be a good guitar player, I think I have the skills, but it feels so hard for me sometimes to push myself alone to the next levels. With that being said, I was wondering about my accountability to God and how I am supposed to be pushing myself throughout the day and making myself so much more interactive. It seems like I often just drag myself thoughout a lot of days, just to get through them in hopes that the next one will be easier. Maybe that's an energy problem, maybe that's just being lazy. But I do feel I have some sort of accountability for the person I should be under God and in life. It's just hard to see it and focus on it all the time, without someone else there.

The other guy also talked about commitment and staying on track. He pointed out this story of this one girl who went to a Christian school but became a porn star. when interviewed she said that she didn't like her job and wanted to get away from it as soon as she got the money and get back with God. Well, a year had passed after the interview and she had been in 32 pornos and had just signed a contract with a major porn producer. Sad, she clearly was not going to be able to get away, and even though she said she wanted to, she would just keep on putting it off forever, with no real hopes of getting to God. She could have left, however, and gotten herself back on track. It just seemed that with where she was at, the grass was greener on that side and that's why she was there. I think that's how a lot of things in life work, and we all waste a lot of time because of it, living life so distracted. Then the guy talked about how is wedding ring is always on, because that represents the commitment he made and the major person in his life, and how he was committed to that bond. He said he wouldn't even touch a pretty girl and would only hug the ugly one's. and I'll bet, his grass is greener than all the adulterers out there that can't seem to stop the affairs.
