One week...

I leave in one week. In exactly seven days from now I will be loading my things in to the car for the trip to the airport.

This morning John again proved that he is the greatest husband in the world and loaded up the EIGHT boxes that I have to mail off to Iraq. Hopefully the majority of them will make it to the unit before I get there. The men that I'll be working for have already said that they would just put the boxes in my assigned room and lock the door, so that's good with me.

I've packed up pretty much six months worth of anything I think I'd use, as well as all the things I wasn't sure I would be able to get there, such as chewable vitamins...not sure they'd have those at the PX. I also packed some nice pillows, a few down comforters that can act like a feather bed if it is too warm to use them, and lots of extra uniforms that John gave me. I find it comforting thinking that I'm going to be wearing the same exact uniforms that he wore when he was there. Then there are all the fun things I packed, like extra flashlights and radios, a ton of batteries, the cool little light that turns itself off after 15 minutes and helps you to fall asleep. Then all the things that John thought I would need, like the flashlight that works by cranking instead of batteries and has a radio on it. Or the LED push button light that works on batteries.

I'm trying to carry as little as possible with me, since *I* will be the one carrying it all after we leave Dulles. Along with what I will have with me, I'll have the duffel bag full of army stuff that they will issue to me. What I'm hoping is that the bag I take with me to Virginia will fit in the duffel with all the other gear, and I'll then only have to contend with the carry-on laptop bag. I have that puppy packed to the gills with the essentials: travel blanket and sleep mask, extra batteries, battery back-up for PodZilla, travel voltage converter (just in case), as well as plug adapters for charging the laptop and PodZilla while I'm in the Frankfurt airport. I think there are also a few protein bars in there, just in case I can't find anything suitable to eat while I'm traveling. I also have to have a towel and shower shoes, as we have no idea how long we'll be stuck in Kuwait. If we're there for more than 12 hours or so, I'm sure I'll want to wash all the travel funk off! Thank goodness for solid shampoo and sample sized shower stuff! Now that my hair is so short, I can get away with not using a conditioner and all that. I was a little sad to mail off the Goth Juice  but I've got some other BedHead stuff that works pretty good.

OK, I think that is enough for now.  I'll be posting pictures when I'm at TAC once we get our uniforms issued :)
